Something to chew on: If you have diabetes, healthy snacking can be a challenge. Our expert endocrinologist, Dr. Yoon Kook (Danny) Kim, offers advice for grabbing one of the healthiest snacks possible, and encourages being more mindful as you shop. “By being open to new options and making creative choices at the grocery store, you can enjoy snacks that taste great while still supporting steady blood sugar,” he says.

Health experts share why this refrigerator staple should be a weekly purchase for those looking to improve their blood sugar.

Congratulations to Jaime Wadsworth, RN, Surgical Prep, for being recognized with the Josie King Patient Safety Award!

After bringing her patient’s husband to the prep room to see his wife before surgery, Jaime recognized that he was experiencing stroke-like symptoms and deficits. She immediately worked with the Emergency Department to get him transferred and the life-saving care he needed.

Her dedication reflects our High-Reliability Organization principle of preoccupation with failure — where every team member plays a role in speaking up and keeping patients safe.

Thank you, Jaime, for your steadfast commitment to excellence and patient safety! Safety

Cancer care takes a team.

Team members from across our Medical System were honored on the court in recognition of the many roles that support patients every day — from providers and nurses to technologists and the teams working behind the scenes.

Their dedication reflects the strength of coordinated, compassionate care and the power of community partnership.

During Cancer Prevention Month, we’re proud to recognize the workforce that helps make a difference for patients and families.

At UM St. Joseph, our Catholic identity informs our daily work in our mission of providing loving service and compassionate care to those who entrust us with their lives. We approach the care of our patients from a holistic perspective — we believe the well-being of the patient may be helped through conversation, prayer, meditation, music, ritual and spiritual care services. One of our spiritual care team members, Sister Jolly, shares this why she was called to serve at UM St. Joseph:
