What do you think of Canada's new food guide?!
The new Canada food guide was released today and it focuses heavily on fruits, vegetables and grains. Meat and dairy were eliminated as a food group and the protein section discusses how to get protein from plants. This looks very similar to the USDA plate. The governmental bodies around the world are catching up with the science. The World Health Organization has favored a plant based diet, and the experts panel to the USDA suggested including wording that emphasizes the need to decrease meat. The US World and News report recently asked experts to rate different diets and the top three were all predominantly plant based diets. The lowest marks were earned by Keto diet, which actually got several stern warnings. Dr. Valter Longo is one of the worldโs premier researchers on aging. In his new book, The Longevity Diet, he emphasizes an almost vegetarian diet for longevity. At this point the science is very clear. A plant based diet is the best for your health and the health of the planet!
