We were honored to welcome guest speaker Dr. Stephen B. Thomas, Director of the University of Maryland’s Center for Health Equity, who delivered inspiring remarks on building trust, advancing equity, and strengthening community impact. 💚

Thank you to everyone who joined us in honoring Dr. King’s legacy and continuing the work of healing together.

The digital world can feel like its own world, with its own language and rules. Media exposes us to new ideas, builds social connections, and provides access to a wide breadth of information. But risks are real and wide-ranging.

The acceleration of tech can make it hard for parents to keep up, but we don’t necessarily need to have a firm grasp of every new app or development. The central thing we can do to help our children is to teach them to become good stewards and discerners of the media content designed to steal their attention.

Your most prized commodity is your attention. Give it away for free to your kids, not the doom scroll, and teach your kids to do the same. Helping kids understand who creates media, who benefits, who loses, how algorithms are designed to hook them, and what they can gain or lose from their digital experiences empowers them to reclaim control.

🎉 Congratulations to our Cohort 7 CORE Leadership graduates! 🎉

GBMC HealthCare’s CORE Leadership Development Program supports newly hired and newly promoted leaders — and has expanded to include additional leaders identified by their managers. The program includes four key learning segments: New Leader Onboarding, Management Essentials, Leadership Bootcamp, and CORE Foundations I & II.

To date, more than 160 leaders have successfully completed the program, strengthening leadership across our organization. Following graduation, alumni can continue growing through the CORE Leadership Alumni Institute, which offers ongoing learning, networking opportunities, and digital badging to celebrate their achievement.

To help keep our community warm, GBMC is teaming up with WMAR-2 News to launch Coats for Kindness. From January 20 through February 28, we will be collecting new or gently used coats. Every coat collected will go to GBMC HealthCare's community partners at the Mr. Mack Lewis Foundation and GEDCO. Please visit wmar2news.com/coats for location information.
