Avila Home Care is delighted to announce that the Baltimore County Department of Aging's 2026 Community Resource Directory is now available online!https://bcg-prod.baltimorecountymd.gov/files/departments/aging/documents/bcda-2026-community-resource-guide.pdf This is an incredibly helpful guide to find local services for Seniors, including everything from medical providers to physical therapy, and home repairs to travel services. Avila is featured in several service categories in the Directory as well. If you'd like a hard copy of the Directory, please contact Gretchen at Avila 410-826-6100, or you can pick up a copy at one of BCDA’s 20 senior centers and Baltimore County Public Libraries. To have a copy mailed to you, simply call BCDA’s MAP Office at 410-887-2594. We are very fortunate to have such great resources listed all in one place- thank you Baltimore County Department of Aging for so wonderfully supporting Seniors in our community!

Avila's office team has been hard at work over the last few days making sure all of Avila's clients had the care scheduled that they needed during this Winter Storm of 2026. What a special Avila Art Maker's Artist Talk at Brightview Senior Living Hunt Valley! During watercolor painter Steve Bleinberger's artist talk, there were TWO wonderful and heartwarming surprises. First, one of Steve's former watercolor students (who worked previously an Urban Planner) is a resident of Brightview Hunt Valley, and he surprised Steve and the other audience members by bringing his paintings from the many years ago that Steve taught him. Another sweet surprise was that a former student of Steve's mother is also a resident of Brightview Hunt Valley, and she came to the artist talk as well. We were also delighted to meet Janese, the fantastic new Vibrant Living Director! Thanks very much to Brightview Hunt Valley for hosting your 2nd Avila Art Makers exhibit!

Avila Home Care's Leadership Team would like to give special recognition to two of Avila's incredible Caregivers- Kerney Hopkins and Katherine Tennille. Kerney and Katherine went above and beyond caring for a long term client who suffered from a very challenging illness. They both developed close friendships with their client and her family, while they worked days and nights providing the love, patience and nurturing care that humbles and inspires us. Avila is grateful for all of our Caregivers, and we want them all to know what an honor it is to serve with them.

Avila is super excited to announce that the exquisite watercolor paintings of Steve Bleinberger are now on display at Brightview Senior Living Hunt Valley for our 2nd Avila Art Makers exhibit at this lovely community! Thank you especially to Senior Vibrant Living Associate Suz, and also to Thomas and Adam on the Maintenance team, as well as other Brightview staff, for their help. We were delighted to see Kathy from CarePatrol during our visit, and also our wonderful Caregiver Reggie with his Avila client who lives at Brightview Hunt Valley!

This is just one of the many thank you notes that Avila received from our clients and their families in 2025. This particular Thank You card arrived on New Year's Eve, and we thought the lovely sentiments summed up all that we strive for at Avila- to serve with grace and kindness, and to inspire our clients and their families to thrive and see what is possible, especially amidst often challenging circumstances. Thank you for the opportunity to care for you and your families. We are also grateful for our partners in care, including GBMC - Greater Baltimore Medical Center, LifeBridge Health, Gilchrist Cares, Luminis Health, Brightwood Club Association, Springwell Senior Living Community, over 30 senior living communities where Avila serves clients and hosts musical and art programming, as well as all the folks who refer clients so that Avila may have the chance to serve them. We wish you all a blessed and peaceful New Year in 2026, when we can continue to take this journey together "to see what is possible" as Avila celebrates 10 Joyful Years of Service!

Ameryss provides care to Avila's Annapolis office clients, and she is an attentive, flexible, and truly kind Caregiver. She is always willing to accommodate changes to clients' schedules, is consistently punctual, and looks for ways to help wherever she can. Congratulations to Avila's wonderful Senior Citizens' Prom hosts, Loyola Blakefield school, on their amazing Blakefield Singers' Christmas performance for WBAL NewsRadio 1090 and FM 101.5 Cool Kids Campaign fundraising concert yesterday at Valley View Farms Garden Center & Nursery! Every April for the last 3 years, Loyola's Class of 2027 students and their families have hosted over 120 senior citizens and their loved ones for dancing, prom photos and delicious food. Stay tuned for details about Avila's 2026 Senior Citizens' Prom! Loyola students know well how the Power of Music brings joy to all- Go Blakefield Singers and Go Dons :-)!
