The Medicare AEP serves as an annual opportunity for beneficiaries to evaluate their current Medicare coverage and make necessary changes. During this time, you can:
- Switch between Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans: If you’re currently enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan and wish to switch to a different one, the AEP is the time to do
so.
- Return to Original Medicare: If you’re enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan and want to go back to Original Medicare (Part A and Part B), the AEP allows you to do this.
-Change your Medicare Part D prescription drug plan: Beneficiaries with a stand-alone Medicare Part D plan can switch to a different plan that better suits their medication needs.
-Enroll in a Medicare Part D plan: If you have Original Medicare and haven’t previously enrolled in a Part D plan but want prescription drug coverage, the AEP is your opportunity to do so.
-Make changes to your Medicare Advantage plan: Existing Medicare Advantage plan members can switch to a different plan, and they also have the option to enroll in or drop Medicare prescription drug coverage.
- Evaluate your healthcare needs: The AEP is a chance to assess any changes in your healthcare needs, such as new medical conditions or medications, and adjust your coverage accordingly.
