Hello Grand Traverse County!
We are looking for more people interested in joining our free support group for Parkinson’s Disease! Whether you’re newly diagnosed or if you’ve been living with Parkinson’s for decades, please feel welcome to join!

Parkinson’s Disease affects over 1 MILLION people in the USA. While Parkinson’s Disease is more common in individuals aged 50 and older, it is becoming increasingly more common in those younger than 40!

The EARLIER Parkinson’s is diagnosed, the earlier the signs & symptoms can be addressed. One of the best ways to do this is to attend our monthly support group. These meetings provide individuals to ask questions, share their story, and learn about resources available in the community!

Each session will be facilitated/ led by Mario (physical therapist) & Keith. Keith has become an integral part of our Parkinson’s Community, helping lead our support
group and participating in our Parkinson’s Boxing Class (held at the TC Civic Center). Keith shares very unique insight as he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in his late 30’s! Keith’s experiences provide our group with the good/bad/ugly/hopeful aspects of living life despite being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Please reach out with any questions! 🎄Merry Christmas!🎄 & Happy Holidays!

We celebrate the holiday season with deadlifts! I am so proud when our clients crush their goals: especially when the odds are stacked against them. Despite all the challenges and unforeseen obstacles, this guy continues to defy his limitations.

Hello TC & GT County!

My wife & I started this physical therapy practice a little over a year ago here in TC. We specialize in many aspects of manual therapy/bodywork in addition to specializations in pelvic floor therapy and neurological disorders such as Parkinson's Disease.
We are overwhelmed with the positive feedback we have received from our patients and the community! Thank you! It is our pleasure to serve you!

As I have had the opportunity to work w/ more Parkinson's clients, I have received consistent feedback of lacking support groups in the area. We would love to host bi-weekly OR monthly support groups for people (& family/spouses) suffering from Parkinson's Disease. Especially this time of year as the weather changes (resources limited) and holidays approaching (depression igniter for many).

Parkinson's is a very isolating disease. My vision is to create a safe, comfortable, and open environment where each individual can share their anger, frustrations, fears, and loneliness w/o judgement but instead understanding of those who are also affected.
My question to you: Are you or someone you know affected by Parkinson's Disease & would you find any benefit in this support group?

Please message me for any specific details as we are currently just assessing need!

Stay safe and look out for one another!

📍Dry Needling📍

Dry needling remains one of the main staples of our practice as many of our patients see benefit within 1 visit!

The true beauty of our dry needling methods provide a window of time for our patients to begin retraining poor habits and/or returning to activity/sport to load the healing tissues.

It’s not uncommon for a patient to ask us if dry needling is MAGIC! 🧙‍♂️

…Magic…Science….wouldn’t you like to find out for yourself? DM me for an opportunity to try a free session!

Come see us @ Palomino Physical Therapy & Performance!

Dr Lia & Dr Mario both specialize in Manual therapy and take a “hands-on approach” when it comes to treatment. The philosophy behind Palomino PT’s success comes from years of perfecting skill but also the business model which allows absolute freedom to treat you without limitations!

At Palomino PT, you will be treated by only 1 clinician throughout your entire experience (either Dr Mario or Dr Lia). You will never be tossed off onto a tech or aide, nor will you ever be alone to complete exercises/activities. Patients typically find improvements in as little as ONE treatment with the Palominos’s manual based approach!

Another Murph in the books!

🔹1 Mile Run
🔹 100 Pull-ups
🔹 200 Pushups
🔹 300 Squats
🔹1 Mile Run
+20lbs weighted vest

On Memorial Day I had the pleasure of completing Murph at CrossFit Due North alongside many of my friends and former clients.

Murph is always cathartic as you constantly want to slow down and/or quit yet still summon the will to keep going: it encompasses its namesake and anyone who isn’t familiar with Michael Murphy should look up the story.

Yet this year in addition to the this feeling, I felt pride. I saw so many of my previous clients tackling Murph with such veracity; completing movements they were unable to achieve prior to PT as they were limited by pain and range of motion. These people showed up and embraced the challenge in front of them. Proud of each of you!

📸 Special thanks to for the awesome photos!!!

What does Palomino PT’s “Manual Approach” look like?

1️⃣ Evaluation
The first appointment: An hour long meeting (just you and I) consisting of various tests and measures along with subjective information collection (where you get to tell me everything that you’re experiencing in addition to my various questions for you!). This first appointment is paramount as getting an accurate diagnosis will give us the best chance for success. Once evaluated and we (again just you and I) establish a plan for progression towards your goals, we focus on treatment - the things that are difficult to do solo. Depending on the complexity of your specific case and time permitting, treatment may be possible on this first appointment.

2️⃣ Dry Needling
In many cases (BUT NOT ALWAYS) I will begin our appointment with dry needling techniques. If the patient has any phobia or wishes to decline - there is absolutely no problem. Like all techniques we use in our practice - they are merely tools. We believe it’s our application of them that you should value! In dry needlings place, other techniques such as Cupping or IASTM may be used.

3️⃣ Manual Therapy
If we’ve decided dry needling (or any other modality) was right for you, we will typically follow it up with what we refer to as “manual therapy”. We umbrella term this “manual” because it consists of dozens of different techniques: hands-on soft tissue mobilization, functional mobilization, joint mobilizations, passive/active-type stretching, and more!

4️⃣ Load It
As we approach the final 10-15mins of the appointment, we will typically do some loading of the tissue. This could mean some specific manual resistive exercises, squat/gait re-education, or more involved activities geared toward your goals! I don’t typically spend much time in this realm unless again it specifically is towards your goals.

Instead I take pride in empowering my patients to learn as much about pain reduction, fitness, exercise, mobility, etc from me and to move forward incorporating new strategies in their lives to improve overall quality, health, & wellness. This = more available time for me to treat you! More in comments!!!
