As much as I think I can do it all, I can’t. And that’s OK! Our life today looks a little bit different than it did 4 years ago when I opened my practice. I’ve decided to take the next few years to focus on our kids, our home, have more spontaneous fun, travel, and be a mom who is more present. I’m sorry for what this means for all of my wonderful patients. I’m proud to say that the practice was very successful- generating over six figures without any company contracts, without having an existing panel or presence in Traverse City, and opening during COVID. I have grinded and spent countless evenings learning business and marketing. I have met so many wonderful people in this city and proud to now call it home. I don’t know what is next yet. I like to think of this as a power pause with the intent of possibly returning to work one day. Thankful for the work of and many other women physician entrepreneurs. I’m still a doctor and I’m also a mother to three wonderful kids who are only so young for a period of time. This picture was taken a month before opening, I had to use my kids for stock photos during covid times. 😂

Every new year I like to think about each child in our family and what our child needs. Maybe it’s more free play, more mindfulness or creativity. Maybe it’s more rigor and getting outside of our comfort zones. And you can decide what camp, class or activity supports that general theme. For us, it’s new experiences, being outside more, and living more intentionally. What about you?

Talking to your kids about the election and voting is important! This is a great opportunity to discuss pros and cons, varying view points, grey area, negotiation and coming to a conclusion. So much learning here!

Also they take pride in their parents voting, lets show them what it looks like to be an active participant.

I don’t like to be an alarmist. But vaccination rates for flu have declined. Last year we saw just over 100 deaths in the pediatric population. I’m happy to vaccinate anybody- patients and non patients, kid and parents, definitely not a cost-effective measure for me, esp for my time but happy to do it with all the love of course. ❤️ I have spots Sat Oct 5th 8:30-10am, some until noon and happy to stay a tad later for you too. Happy to open up more times with demand.

Per CDC-

“Among the 103 reported pediatric flu deaths this [2023-24] season:

38 occurred in children younger than 5 years old. These children are at higher risk of developing serious flu complications based on their age.

5 occurred in children younger than 6 months, who are at highest risk among children of being hospitalized with flu but are too young to get a flu vaccine.

65 deaths occurred in children 5 years to 17 years old.

Of the 98 pediatric deaths that were among children with known information on medical conditions, 46 had a pre-existing medical condition that would place them at higher risk of developing serious flu complications.

This means more than half of pediatric flu deaths this season were in otherwise healthy children.

98 children were eligible for vaccination, and vaccination status was known for 89 of those children; 88% of those children were not fully vaccinated against flu. In past seasons, about 80% of children who died from flu were not fully vaccinated.”

Beyfortus is a medication to help prevent serious illness related to RSV. It is indicated for Newborns and babies under 1 year of age born during or entering their first RSV season.
