A lot is going on here. Let's break down the big picture.
First, your muscle cells become less responsive to insulin, meaning your body needs to produce increasing amounts of insulin just to move the same amount of glucose into those cells.
This extra demand puts tremendous stress on your pancreas, specifically the beta cells that manufacture insulin.
Over time, these overworked cells begin to wear out and can't keep up with the body's insulin demands.
Meanwhile, your liver - which normally stops producing glucose when insulin levels are high - also becomes resistant to insulin's signals. Instead of shutting down glucose production when it should, the liver continues pumping out sugar into your bloodstream, making the whole problem worse.
This creates a cascading failure where each organ's dysfunction makes the others work harder, ultimately leading to the high blood sugar levels characteristic of diabetes.
