Here's a fun Thursday fact about Prosthetics: Did you know the oldest known prosthetic was found in Cairo, Egypt in 2000? It was estimated that the wood and leather prosthetic toe was nearly 3,000 years old! It's amazing how far prosthetics have come since then! Active Brace and Limb would like to welcome Derek Nowak to our Traverse City location. Derek is an ABC Certified Pedorthist, Orthotic Technician & Assistant.
​Derek previously worked at Williams Orthotic Services in Flint, Michigan for over 20 years. His interest in orthotics and pedorthics started shortly after high school, which urged him to pursue his studies further at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he trained in Pedorthics and then later went on to Spokane Community College to achieve certification as an Orthotic Technician. Derek is an active family man. As a family of four, with wife Jill, and two daughters Sophia and Gianna; they enjoy camping and the great outdoors. Derek's own personal hobbies include baseball, bowling, golf, hunting, fishing, and riding snowmobiles and motorcycles.
