When I started Alliance for Senior Housing 25 years ago, we had nursing homes and adult foster care homes. Assisted Living was still pretty new and Independent Living Retirement complexes were just starting. So much has changed for the better over these years! These complexes have had to! The Seniors demanded it by the choices they were making. More space, private rooms/apartments w/ private bathrooms, more care and more adult activities! We've come a long way and I am so proud to have been a part of it.

PARENTS- It's been 6 years since I lost my parents. When they moved closer to be near me, my life became hectic with doctor's appointments, ER visits, bringing them to my home for dinners, and so on. The best part though? Watching my mom and dad snuggle, be silly, and sometimes even a bit flirtatious; as seen in the above cover photo.
Our relationship grew in ways never expected. Looking back, I'm so grateful they were near me.

You didn't know me, but thank you.

Occasionally, I post real life situations that my clients have. The hope is for others who may be experiencing difficult care concerns that there is always a solution.

1. A Woman requiring a sarah steady for transfers that is vibrant and alert. Only a few assisted living homes provide this care, but they are beautiful ones.
2. A Married couple who needed direction- wife is the caregiver, exhausted. Husband w/ alzheimer's who won't allow anyone to help but his wife. Narrowed their care options down to 2 types of Medicaid; one allowing him to stay at home and one for placement into a nursing home.
3. Another married couple that orignally considered staying together in assisted living. Husband w/ undiagnosed dementia, wife having no care needs. Through consultation, best option was for the husband to be placed in a secure memory care unit, paying privately.
4. A 91 yr. fiesty lady looking towards the future and moving into an independent living complex. We will be touring soon and having lunch together.
5. An older couple needing care, who's disabled son lived with them. First, we needed to find placement for the son. Once he was safe, we worked through the couple's finances. He qualfied for a VA pension (for care) and she qualified for a Medicaid program. All three are safe and adjusting now.

These are just a few solutions I have guided my clients through. If you are caring for a loved one and need solutions, please call me. If I am not the appropriate service for you, I can direct you to the one that is.
