❄️ Self-Care Saturday: Micro-Moments of Rest

Self-care doesn’t have to be big or time-consuming.
In fact, your nervous system responds incredibly well to tiny moments of rest throughout the day.

Try adding these micro-moments into your Saturday:
✨ 1 minute of deep breathing
✨ 30 seconds of stretching your spine
✨ 5 slow sips of water
✨ 10 seconds of stepping outside for fresh air
✨ 1 minute of phone-free stillness

These quick resets help calm your body, boost your mood, and support a healthy nervous system, especially in the winter.

Give yourself permission to pause today.

❄️ Fun Fact Friday

Fun Fact: Your muscles actually tighten faster in cold weather, even when you’re not moving, which can reduce mobility and place extra stress on your spine.

Why it matters:
❄️ Cold temperatures decrease circulation
❄️ Muscles contract to keep you warm
❄️ Tight muscles pull more on joints and the spine
❄️ This can lead to stiffness, discomfort, or headaches

Here’s the good news. Gentle movement, hydration, and chiropractic care help keep your body adapting, mobile, and feeling your best through the winter months.

Your spine works hard for you this season… show it a little love today. 💙

Call or text 231-354-2600 if you need support staying mobile this winter.

❄️ Thriving Thursday Through The Winter Blues

As the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, it’s completely normal for your body, and your mood, to feel the shift. Less sunlight, fewer outdoor activities, and holiday overstimulation can place extra stress on the nervous system, leading to what many people call the “winter blues.”

The good news? Small, intentional habits can help you and your family thrive through the season:

✨ Get daily light exposure
Even 5 minutes outside helps regulate your circadian rhythm and boosts mood.

✨ Move your body regularly
Movement increases circulation, reduces muscle tension, and supports emotional health.

✨ Stay hydrated + nourished
Warm meals and steady hydration support your immune and nervous systems.

✨ Prioritize calm moments
Breathing exercises, reading with your kids, prayer, or quiet evenings help reset your stress levels.

✨ Support your nervous system with chiropractic care
Balanced nerves help improve sleep, mood, stress resilience, and immune function especially in winter.

You don’t have to just get through the season. With the right support, you can truly thrive in it.

🌿 Wellness Wednesday
Why Winter Fatigue Isn’t Just Tiredness. It’s Nervous System Overload

Winter fatigue is real, but it’s not just about being tired.
Shorter days, colder weather, holiday stress, and constant schedule changes put extra pressure on you and your families nervous system. Which plays a major role in your energy, immunity, sleep, and overall resilience.

When the nervous system is overwhelmed, you may notice:
❄️ Lower energy
❄️ Irritability or mood dips
❄️ Poor sleep
❄️ Getting sick more easily
❄️ Tension in the neck, shoulders, or low back
❄️ Feeling “wired but tired”

Here’s how to support your body this week:
✨ Get a few minutes of natural light every day
✨ Stay hydrated (dry air = hidden dehydration)
✨ Keep up with gentle movement
✨ Prioritize sleep, even if days feel rushed
✨ Support your nervous system with chiropractic care

A balanced nervous system helps your body adapt to winter stress. So you can feel more grounded, energized, and well.

🤰Webster Technique Support for Moms

Pregnancy is an incredible journey, but it also brings a lot of changes to the pelvis, low back, and surrounding ligaments. Many moms don’t realize how much tension their body holds until it starts affecting their comfort, sleep, and mobility. That’s where the Webster Technique can make a huge difference.

Webster is a gentle, pregnancy-specific chiropractic approach that helps:
✨ Create balance in the pelvis
✨ Reduce tension in surrounding muscles + ligaments
✨ Improve comfort and mobility
✨ Support the body as it adapts and prepares for birth

When the pelvis is balanced, moms often feel more aligned, more at ease, and more confident going into their birth experience. We love supporting moms through every trimester and hearing stories like this reminds us why this work matters.

❄️ Hydration During Winter

Did you know winter is one of the easiest seasons to become dehydrated, even more than summer? Cold air, indoor heating, and reduced thirst cues cause your body to lose moisture faster than you think.

❄️ Fun Fact Friday
Winter Activities such as sledding, skiing, snowshoeing, building snowmen, are Fun… But Did You Know? Long exposure to cold temperatures can cause your muscles and tendons to tighten?

When soft tissues tighten to stay warm, it can lead to:
• Increased tension on the spine
• More compression through joints
• Reduced mobility
• Higher risk of strain or irritation after activity

Cold weather makes your body work harder to stay warm, which naturally leads to less flexibility and more stiffness. Especially in the neck, low back, and hips. Supporting your spine and nervous system during the winter helps your body adapt, move better, and recover from all the fun you’re having outside.

If winter activities leave you or your kids feeling sore or tight, chiropractic care can help keep your body moving, resilient, and ready for more.

❄️ Thriving Thursday
How to Help Your Family Thrive When Winter Stress Hits

Winter can place extra load on the nervous system; less sunlight, dry air, holiday busyness, disrupted routines, and more time indoors. All of this adds up and can make kids (and parents!) more irritable, tired, tense, or prone to getting sick.

But thriving through winter is absolutely possible with a few simple changes:

✨ Keep sleep consistent.
Shorter days can throw off the natural rhythm of the body. A steady bedtime helps everyone regulate better.

✨ Warm, nutrient-dense meals.
Soups, broths, root veggies, and warm breakfasts help support digestion and immunity.

✨ Hydration (even when you don’t feel thirsty).
Dry winter air dehydrates the skin and the inside of the body. Water = better energy + better immunity.

✨ Get outside for a few minutes every day.
Even 5 minutes of natural light helps regulate mood, sleep, and the nervous system.

✨ Stay adjusted.
Chiropractic care helps the nervous system adapt to stress, boosts immune function, and keeps the whole family aligned and balanced through the season.

A calm, supported nervous system helps your family not just survive the winter, but truly thrive in it.

Hydration in Winter: It’s More Important Than You Think

Cold weather doesn’t just dry out your skin, it dehydrates your entire body.
And when your body is dehydrated, your nervous system, digestion, sleep, joints, and immunity all take a hit.

In the winter we feel less thirsty, but we actually lose more moisture because of:
❄️ Indoor heating
❄️ Dry air
❄️ Less sweating (so we forget to drink)
❄️ Long stretches of time inside

When the skin dries out, it’s a sign that your internal system is also lacking hydration. This affects: Nerve signal efficiency, Muscle function, Energy levels, Immune system strength, Joint mobility, and Recovery from stress. ⚡

Hydration helps your nervous system stay balanced so your body can adapt to stress, stay warm, and stay healthy all season long.

Wellness Tips for the Week:

✨ Start your morning with warm water
✨ Add electrolytes once or twice a day
✨ Use a humidifier at night
✨ Drink a little water every hour instead of all at once
✨ Herbal tea counts toward hydration, too!

Your body works hard for you in the winter, give it the water it needs to function at its best.

Testimonial Tuesday’s!! ⭐️

Ear infections can be exhausting for both kids and parents, especially when they keep coming back. One of our biggest goals at Third Coast Chiropractic is not only to help support your child’s health, but to make your entire family feel safe, welcome, and at home from the moment you walk through the door.

Kids deserve care that meets them at their level. That’s why we listen, play, connect, and create an environment where they feel comfortable, confident, and excited to come back. When their nervous system is supported, their bodies are better able to heal, adapt, and thrive. Often leading to fewer ear infections and healthier days ahead.

If your child has been struggling with chronic ear infections or you’re simply looking for a family-centered approach to care, we’re here to help.
