In addition to being a full time licensed massage therapist, I’m also a homeschool mom. My little and I have been having so much fun with our Know Yourself anatomy curriculum this year, and are currently studying the skeletal system. Just in time for Halloween 🎃 we made our own skeleton 🩻 for the school room!

These lovely birds (5 beautiful barred rock pullets who lay delicious eggs!) go up for auction tomorrow morning! Annalise has worked so hard for many months to raise them, and the day is finally here!! Small animal auction begins at 10am at Rosa Arena at the Northwestern Michigan Fair. A 4-H auction purchase is a tax write off charitable donation, and Annalise’s profits will go into future animal projects and be saved towards her post-graduation plans. Gotta start early!

As of this morning, there were only two appointments available left in the year. I've sent multiple emails in the last few months adding appointments and thanking you for your support. I've heard your requests for more availability, to be able to be seen sooner, to be notified of cancellations. With these things in mind, I've decided to add availability to my schedule.

I will now be open Thursdays from 10am to 3:30pm. I have also adjusted my schedule so that there may be openings for 60 minute massage appointments on various days going forward. The following days have appointments currently available:

Monday, December 6
Thursday, December 9
Thursday, December 16
Thursday, December 23
Monday, December 27
Thursday, December 30

Finally Reopening
With New Guidelines to Keep Us All Healthy
This morning, Governer Whitmer signed Executive Order 2020-115, which allows massage therapy businesses to open statewide June 15. At this time, I am enabling online booking for appointments beginning Monday, June 15. My office hours for the time being will be Monday - Friday, 10am - 5pm. I will still be seeing only 3 clients per day, but I am increasing the margin of time between clients.

I am certain you have many questions about how massage will be changed in the current climate. I have new responsibilities in maintaining my space and for protecting you and myself, and you, as a client, will have new responsibilities as well.

First, here is what I am doing:
I am adding a HEPA filter air purifier to my treatment room
I am adding a disposable sheet layer that will be changed with each client between the sheets you lie on and the fleece pad and table warmer
I will thoroughly disinfect the space between each client, and deep clean each day
I will greet each client at the door with hand sanitizer for your use, a mask if you do not bring your own, and a no-touch thermometer to screen for fever
I will wear a mask at all times
This is what I ask of you:
If you have been exposed to or diagnosed with COVID-19, do not schedule a massage, and cancel any massages currently scheduled
If you are diagnosed with COVID-19 within 14 days of receiving a massage, please contact me as quickly as you are able
A day or two before your session you will receive an online health form from MassageBook with COVID-19 related questions. Please be sure all information is current and accurate before every session.
You will be required to wear a mask the entire time you are in the building, including during the massage. If you will feel uncomfortable wearing a mask while receiving massage, please wait until this restriction has lifted to schedule any massage.
Please wait in your car for me to text you when I am ready for you to enter. You may text me at (734)646-4464 when you arrive so that I have the most current number to reach you.

This morning, Governor Whitmer ordered the closure of many businesses that serve the general public in close contact. Included in that list are spas and fitness centers. While Bowen Wellness Massage Therapy is a health clinic more than a spa, the intent behind the closure is clear. The article I read on UpNorthLive states that we should be "making smart choices and not putting yourself or others at risk by going out in public unless it is absolutely necessary."

This regretfully means that I will have to close, effective today, through March 30 to comply with government orders. I am also temporarily suspending the online scheduling feature.
