Northern Michigan Vein Specialists

Northern Michigan Vein Specialists Dr. Heeringa, MD has been treating patients with venous disease in Northern Michigan since 2008.

Here at NMVS in Traverse City and Cadillac, MI, our team of dedicated and experienced physicians and vein specialists can diagnose and treat a number of vein conditions and disorders as well as provide aesthetic services to keep you looking your best. In 2016 he decided to dedicate his care exclusively to the treatment of venous disorders and therefore started Northern Michigan Vein Specialists with offices in both Traverse City and Cadillac MI. Here at NMVS, we treat the full spectrum of venous disease from venous ulcers to edema to visible or ropy varicosities, all the way down to cosmetic spider veins. We strive to provide all of our patients with the best care available in a comfortable office environment, and we are at the forefront of the latest venous treatment techniques. While Dr Heeringa treats all of the vein disorders that insurance considers medically necessary, both Kali VanStee PA-C and Diana Seehase BSN treat cosmetic spider veins with cosmetic sclerotherapy and VeinGogh. In addition to helping with the veins, Kali also offers BOTOX®, and B-12 injections! Give us a call today, we'd love to chat and see if we are the right fit to help with your venous or cosmetic needs!

We were happy to see the sunshine today as a much-needed break from this long winter. Get outside and enjoy it! ☀️

Walking is one of the best low-impact exercises for people with varicose veins. It helps improve circulation, strengthens the calf muscles, and can reduce common symptoms like swelling and heaviness. Consistent movement supports healthy blood flow and helps your veins function more efficiently over time.

Understanding the difference between Botox and dermal fillers can help you make confident decisions about your care. Botox works by relaxing targeted muscles to soften lines caused by movement, while dermal fillers add volume to restore or enhance facial contours. Our team is happy to walk you through your options and create a treatment plan tailored to you.

Venous ulcers are slow-healing wounds that often appear near the ankle and are commonly linked to poor vein circulation. When blood pools in the legs, pressure builds and the skin is unable to properly to heal.

Treating the wound is important, but treating the underlying vein disease can help support healing and reduce the risk of recurrence.
