Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation (IASTM) – often called “scraping” – is a centuries old technique that uses traction to treat the skin, nerves, muscles and tissue. Medical grade stainless steel tools of different sizes and angles are dragged along the body to help release muscle and fascia (connective tissue) restrictions and adhesions. IASTM can help relieve pain, increase range of motion, treat scar tissue, trigger healing response, and reduce swelling.
