Yesterday, TruDoulas of NJ attended the Princeton Works 2026 Annual Community Event. It was a great opportunity to learn, connect, and engage with others doing important work in our communities.

We had the chance to attend two excellent workshops. One hosted by and another by Blanche Brannon, both filled with valuable insight and inspiration.

Maternal health equity is part of what freedom must look like in our communities. We were honored to stand alongside community leaders, elected officials, and residents reflecting on this important message.

We gathered across generations to speak truth about birth, motherhood, and raising babies.

The wisdom.
The hard parts.
The lessons we’re carrying forward.

Fresh eggs and vegetables were donated by a local pantry.
The meal was sponsored by a proud Trenton native and prepared by 1911 Smokehouse, nourishing our bodies as we nourished one another.

At TruDoulas of NJ, our mission is to protect Black mothers, preserve our stories, and build a legacy of healthier births for the generations coming after us.

We are changing the narrative with positivity, power, and purpose.

✨ Honoring Black Birthing Legacy During Black History Month
📅 Feb. 21, 2026 | 🕑 11AM –1 PM

TruDoulas of NJ is hosting an intimate intergenerational storytelling circle to honor the birth experiences and wisdom of our community. This will be a small, meaningful gathering around one table to reflect, remember, and preserve our Black birthing legacy.

We are especially inviting community elders who have supported families, cared for mothers, and carried wisdom across generations.
