Advocating for the unheard voices of Black mothers, fathers, and families is not a moment...it’s a movement.

At the Central Jersey Family Health Consortium conference, “The Movement Continues,” CHSofNJ was proud to stand alongside partners and advocates pushing maternal health equity forward. This work doesn’t pause when the conference ends, it drives us every day.

We remain committed to listening, uplifting, and taking action so every family has access to the care, support, and opportunity they deserve. Because advancing maternal health equity means continuing the movement—together.

Our Body & Soul class marked program completion in the most joyful way—with a beautiful baby shower celebration!

The evening was filled with warmth, laughter, and a true sense of community, thanks to the incredible support of Bank of America employee volunteers Kenya Brown, Heather Covington-Woods, Darryl Rivers, Yassah Jallah, Karen Briggs, and Vanessa Flewellen, who helped create such a welcoming and festive atmosphere.

We were especially touched to have Body & Soul alumni Jasmin and Jaylani join as volunteers—full circle moments like these say so much about the power of this program.

A heartfelt thank you to program co-facilitators Shahera and Zuleima for bringing it all together and making the celebration so meaningful for our families.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month—and in true CHSofNJ fashion, we honored it by blending education, resource-sharing, and a little joy along the way. 💙

A heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers of Heritage South Family Success Center for bringing it all together, the Trenton Fire Department for sharing lifesaving fire safety tips, and Flour Power for adding a sweet touch with their generous cake donation.

Because when we support families with knowledge, resources, and moments of connection, we help build safer, stronger communities for every child.

No better way to celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Week than with action that truly takes root. 🌱

Today, the caring and hard-working volunteers from Princeton-based Kyowa Kirin—led by Julie Blinder—rolled up their sleeves and got to work on a meaningful gardening project supporting our youngest learners. Splitting into teams, they revitalized the cold frames at Smith Santiago Early Head Start and Vivian Schapiro Early Head Start, carefully tilling the soil and thoughtfully planting new crops.

Their dedication, teamwork, and generosity of spirit were on full display from start to finish. Kyowa Kirin’s volunteers didn’t just plant seeds—they planted hope, growth, and brighter days ahead for the children and families we serve.

What happens when compassion meets action?

At a recent team-building event with the incredible employees of Novo Nordisk, our Chief Advancement Officer, Duncan Harrison, shared what makes CHSofNJ’s work so impactful—creating brighter futures for children and families across New Jersey.

Then, that impact came to life in the most heartwarming way. Employees rolled up their sleeves to stuff these adorable furry friends, each one destined to bring comfort, joy, and a sense of security to a child in our care.

Because sometimes, something as simple as a soft, cuddly companion can make a world of difference.
