Congratulations to Adriana Ortiz, who has been honored with the Community Health Worker Southern NJ Region Hero Award!

Since joining us in 2023, Adriana has consistently gone above and beyond. In 2024, she earned her CHW certification and was promoted to Bilingual Community Health Worker through the Perinatal Community Integration program.

Her dedication in establishing trust with families—especially in the Hispanic community in Ocean County—has expanded access to vital maternal child health services and continues to make a meaningful impact.

We’re proud to have Adriana on the CHSofNJ Team and grateful for her compassion, leadership, and commitment to the community.

August is National Community Health Worker (CHW) Awareness Month—a time to celebrate the frontline leaders who connect families to care, resources, and hope!

We are thrilled to share that Maria Sellas has been recognized with the Community Health Worker Central New Jersey Region Hero Award!

Since joining CHSofNJ in 2023, Maria has gone above and beyond—earning her CHW certification in 2024 and working through our SALUD program to ensure families, especially within the Hispanic community in Mercer County, have greater access to health services and resources. Her compassion, dedication, and ability to connect with people have made a true and lasting impact.

This recognition also highlights CHSofNJ's commitment to training Community Health Workers as part of our Perinatal Community Integration Model under the Office of Minority Health. In the past 2+ years, we’ve proudly trained nearly 20 CHWs across Mercer, Ocean, and Monmouth counties through the NJ Colette Lamothe-Galette Community Health Worker Institute.

Please join us in congratulating Maria on this incredible achievement—and in celebrating all CHWs who are building stronger, healthier communities every day.

Friday Night Lights + Trenton pride = an unforgettable night at Trenton Thunder Ballpark! Huge thanks to Jon Bodnar for inviting us to Capital City Night, where the spotlight shined on the people and organizations that keep Trenton strong.

Shout-out to Julie, Duncan, and Nate who took the mound and showed off their pitching arms.

From the legendary Case Pork Roll to the passion of RevNJ, the night was all about celebrating the icons that make our city one-of-a-kind. And with Trenton’s pivotal role in our nation’s 250th birthday just around the corner, the excitement is only growing 🎉.
