Setting up for a restorative practice this morning after meditation and journaling practice.

Morning reflection:

“As above so below. There is a universe inside of me. In this 55th year of life, I shall turn my attention inward. To explore the mysteries of me. To get quiet. To look internally instead of externally for advice, healing, validation. My journey is now a journey of radical self remembrance.”

Rest & remember.

“And that’s the journey out of fawning - finding safety in ourselves not soley in others. It’s not about becoming cold or disconnected. It’s about becoming whole. It’s about choosing self-loyalty over self-abandonment.” 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Did you know that 20 minutes of yoga nidra can be as restorative as 3 hours of sleep? Research done at Harvard Medical School has shown that this practice literally rewires your brain for greater resilience and peace.

But what is Yoga Nidra? I would love to share some wisdom from a few teachers of the practice of yoga nidra: Tracee Stanley, author of Radiant Rest: “yoga nidra is a meditation technique, a state of consciousness, and a goddess that presides over the journey.”

Karen Brody, creator of Daring to Rest, “yoga nidra is a practice that gives women permission to rest deeply without guilt, shame, or the need to earn it.”

Richard Miller, founder of iRest: “yoga nidra is a form of meditation that invites us to welcome whatever arises in our experience while remaining grounded in unshakeable peace.”

Indu Arora, teacher & author: “yoga nidra is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental, and emotional relaxation while maintaining awareness at the deeper level.”

Swami Satyananda Saraswati, who introduced yoga nidra to the West, “yoga nidra is a state of mind between wakefulness and dream, a twilight state where the mind remains present and awake while the body drops into deep relaxation.”

I love all of these definitions and I think they are all accurate and true. I personally consider yoga nidra to be a framework for deep rest, deep healing & deeper states of consciousness…..an inner journey through the 5 koshas to access our true nature.

Garden 2025 update. Growing things is unpredictable. Last year I had an abundance of strawberries and more wildflowers than I can imagine. This year not so much. I vegetables are doing great though. Especially the squash. Always the squash. These babies suffered an early summer hailstorm, but most things have bounced back. The grasshoppers on the other hand have almost decimated my greens. Still I’m grateful for everything that’s growing and the nourishment it will provide.💚💚

One spot has just come open for the Sacred Pause Spring Retreat – Jemez Springs, New Mexico. If you feel a gentle tug in your heart, a whisper of longing for this sacred pause, I onvite you to join us. Claim the remaining spot here: Sacred Pause: Nature Wisdom/Inner Wisdom - May 30-June 1, 2025.

An Invitation:
In this modern world that asks so much of us as women and caregivers, we often find ourselves depleted from endlessly giving. The constant demands of family, work, and community can leave little space for our own restoration. We've grown accustomed to pushing through fatigue, overriding our body's signals, and postponing our own nourishment.
Perhaps you've felt it too: that quiet longing to remember who you are beneath the roles you fulfill. To reconnect with the inner wisdom that lives in your bones. To rest in the embrace of nature and be reminded of your belonging to something greater.

This retreat is that invitation—to pause, to rest, to remember.

Nature Wisdom/Inner Wisdom:
As women, we carry within us an intuitive knowing that often gets silenced by the noise of our busy lives. Similarly, the natural world holds profound wisdom that our ancestors lived in harmony with for thousands of years. Both forms of wisdom—inner wisdom and nature wisdom are needed in these times.
The Sacred Pause Retreat is a gathering of women in sacred circle in sacred place to connect with the wisdom of nature through yoga, yoga nidra meditation, journaling and time outdoors.

We will become aware of and explore the five elements within and around us. We will connect with the qualities of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space so we can leave refreshed and ready to return to our communities, families, and purpose work.
The Five Elements
1. EARTH: Groundedness
We will explore our own rootedness, stability and connection to the Earth through Earth Altars, Yoga, and Yoga Nidra.
2. WATER: Fluidity
We will explore fluidity through yoga, pranayama, and healing waters.
3. FIRE: Alignment
We will explore inner and outer alignment through forest bathing and meditation.
4. AIR: Clarity
We will explore clarity through yoga and gentle movement.
5. ETHER: Connection
We will remember our place in the great web of life through Yoga Nidra.

Beautiful break in a beautiful Sunday. There are lots of things I desire to do today. Tend to my house plants, plant my vegetables, work on my Substack writing, play with a Dogs, yoga Nidra - the cool thing about Sundays is I’m not attached to anything. I’m allowing spaciousness for whatever arises and letting my intuition and desire lead the way.

Lately I have been sitting in the east direction, meditating on the 3rd Eye Chakra…… combine the wisdom of the tote with the wisdom of the yogis.

To enhance this practice, I have been sipping on a tea blend of lavender peppermint, Tulsi, and mugwort. This tea supports clarity, inner vision and intuition.

Imbolc is February 2.

It is one of the natural celebrations along the wheel of the year.
🕯️ it is the midpoint between winter solstice and spring equinox.
🕯️ it is a gentle awakening from wintering and hibernation.
🕯️ it is a time of hope to welcome the return of the suns power, light & warmth.
🕯️ it is associated with Brigid - the Celtic, goddess of healing, hope, poetry and fertility.

Thank you to the members of the Easeful Yoga Collective who practiced with me this morning celebrate the coming of Imbolc:
🕯️Susan Pritchett
🕯️Diane Williams
🕯️Jane Neice Hann
🕯️Stacey Bonham

As a reminder this class and a special celebration workbook will be available to all Easeful Yoga Collective in a special wheel of the year playlist💛☀️
