Trinidad Rotary Club Continuous Community Projects

Purchase and distribute Scholastic Dictionaries to every 3rd grade student in Las Animas
County for the past 14 years
Sponsor an area youth for the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy RYLA each year. Assist the Salvation Army ring bells for their Christmas fund raising drive. Trinidad Rotary Club is a sponsor for the Water Festival since the festival’s beginning. Regularly contribute books to the Carnegie Children’s Library. Support our Troops through USO by purchasing phone cards twice a year. Provide hot cider and hot chocolate for the “Trinidad Christmas Tree and Train” lighting ceremony. Completed Projects in the Community

Purchased a refrigerator and 20c’ freezer for the Fisher’s Peak Soup Kitchen. Raised and donated the funds to the local Good Samaritan Clinic. Financed support to Southern Colorado Repertory Theater (SCRT) start up and support youth workshops. Carnegie Library projects: Purchased environmental conservation education materials and furniture and projector screen for the youth section at the library. Promoted and assisted the Recycle Group to initiate the Recycling events. Spearheaded fund raising for Mt. San Rafael flight for life landing pad. Contributed water fountain in Cimino Park. Provided Rotary Cross-walk signs.

• Contributed to disaster relief for the Colorado Waldo Canon Fire.
• Provided $4,000 to disaster relief for Hurricane Katrina victims in the southern United States.
• Funded “Shelter Boxes” for earthquake victims in Haiti.
• Financed installation of potable water system to two villages in South America.
• Supported a project to give eye exams and provide eyeglasses to children Chinandega, Nicaragua.
• Assisted 40 elderly individuals in Argentina obtain cataract operation.

Trinidad Rotary’s Annual Palisade Peach Sale Fundraiser is now in its third week. If you love great peaches stop in at our Trinidad Farmer’s market booth this Saturday and order yours!

Twenty pound boxes delivered directly from our Palisade grower’s orchards arrive August 21st and are ready for pick up that day only between noon and 8pm. Please see the details in the attached order form.

If you can’t make the farmer’s market, please contact your favorite Rotarian or mail your order with payment to Trinidad Rotary Club, PO BOX 547, Trinidad, CO 81082.

Trindad Rotary Club recently provided a $5,000 grant to help fund the GIFTS (Greater Independence for Trinidad Seniors) program aimed at providing extra physical and social benefits for our older adults. Rotary member Penny Saeedi and Trinidad resident Gail Meehan are the driving force behind this program.

Trinidad Rotary Club officially began our annual Palisade Peach sales fundraiser to support local non-profit activities. Peaches cost $50 per 20 pound box and are scheduled to arrive August 21st. You can order by filling out the attached order form and mailing the top half of the form with payment to Trinidad Rotary Club, PO Box 547, Trinidad, CO 81082.

We’re also taking orders at the Trinidad Farmer’s Market July 13, 20 and 27 from 8am until noon. Or contact your favorite Rotarian who will be happy to reserve your peaches for you.

Trinidad Rotary Club again is selling delicious Palisade peaches as a yearly fundraiser.
Peaches are ordered in 20 pound boxes at $50 per box. Anticipated delivery date is August 30, 2023 (Wednesday), pick up site is the Fisher's Peak Soup Kitchen, 300 Church Street, Trinidad, CO 81082 from noon to 8:00pm only. Note: If the date changes due the peach ripening time, customers will be notified.
Rotarians will be at the Farmer's Market to take orders on July 15, 2023 and July 22, 2023 from 8am to noon.

Greg Sund, Trinidad Rotarian, assumed the position of District 5470 Governor as the torch was passed from Sam Kevan Saturday evening July 1, 2023.
The ceremony was held at the Arthur Roy Mitchell Western Art Museum in Trinidad, Colorado. Rotarian Jesse Manzanares, Trinidad Club, served as Master of Ceremonies for the event. Participants enjoyed a catered BBQ meal surrounded by the friendship of Rotarians from various clubs across Colorado.
Congratulations Greg! Thank you, Sam and the leadership team, of 2022-2023. Excellent Work!!
