“Randy", the most famous name you can here everytime there's a machine or device that is broken. Randy is our lifetime volunteer biomed technician/handyman in our mission work in Northern Samar Philippines.
Here's his testimonial:
International Surgical Mission a well-established humanitarian aid organization direct from the US of A, and with high regards to volunteerism.
As far as I can remember in February 2009 during their ISM-Medical & Surgical Mission held in Allen District Hospital, I was once tasked by the ISM-OR team to do some repair of their OR suction machine with torned & damaged rubber cap of the unit's bottled-glass due to wear & tear, and to the excessive use in the OR. But due to immense necessity to make it run & operational again, with my little understanding of medical equipments and limited parts in our locality, all I have done that time was purely innovative methods & ideas to deal their damaged suction machine. By using a locally made rubber slippers to replace damaged rubber cap. Gladly it worked well and the unit runs up to their last surgical procedure. These I consider, my first ever voluntary service to ISM and the rest is history. I have been with the group in Allen to Biri, and now in Pambujan. Its a long way to go and render technical services the best way I could for the sake of volunteerism and helping others in my own little way.
Its always been my pride rendering services to them (ISM) without delay & reservation. Just knowing their time, efforts & sacrifices in visiting Philippines (particularly my beloved province of Northern Samar) every year, and doing FREE MEDICAL & SURGICAL PROCEDURES to our less-fortunate fellow Nortehanons. So in return, I have to give my part or share in helping save humanity from medical and surgical distress. Its more on services, as for me, it's a CALL.
Thank you ISM-Colorado, a big big big big thank you for bringing me in your prestigious group. It's my pride and honor in the service of you all
