We recently celebrated Halloween with our fun Spooky Spirit Week! We had dress alike days, western day, costume day and more! Our haunted house and trick or treat was a huge success! Our therapy department was the Big Top Circus this year and our haunted house area was a Madam Webb theme, which included a couple scary clowns, a "voice" stuck in the wall and Madam Webb's latest victim (he's okay, he got away), not to mention, there were lots of lots of SPIDERS!!!
Our residents ALWAYS look forward to this time of year! It is always so much fun! We can't wait to start planning for next year! Thank you to everyone who came out for it!

The Miami County Foundation and the Pitsenbarger family donated this beautiful bench in memory of Theresa Hargis, who was a beloved resident here for several years. As you will see the bench says, "a gift from her brother Mike". Mike was Theresa's caregiver for many years before she came to live at Vancrest. Mike passed unexpectedly a few years before Theresa. With funds that were left behind, the Miami County Foundation and the Pitsenbarger's (who were like family to Mike and Theresa) decided to leave a memorial behind on our grounds, where Theresa touched so many of our employees (as you can see from the pictures). Theresa was a jokester, she was sassy, she was loving, she was everyone's friend. She also greeted everyone that walked in our door, whether she was inside or outside! We are honored to have this memorial bench on our grounds!

Make sure to join us next week for our Annual Trick or Treat and Haunted House!!!! Upper Valley Medical Center will be having their Trunk or Treat across the parking lot so there will be so much to do!!!

During Rehab week we recently let our staff and other residents experience some of the different types of therapy we offer here at Vancrest-Upper Valley! From our Occupational Therapists doing a strength test, to our physical therapists helping our staff use the Alter-G anti-gravity machine, to our speech therapist doing her version of "beer pong" with thicken liquids, regular liquids and nectar! What a blast this week was! This is why our therapy team is THE BEST!
