Warning wound pics to follow!

Do not ignore small holes!
They can become bigger.

Get in touch with your surgeon. If they aren't available, your primary or urgent care is the way to go. Contact your insurance and find out how to get into a wound clinic.

This lovely lady is very lucky that her wound is now almost closed as she had a hard time finding any local docs to support her.

It's frustrating to see that Trump doesn't plan to use simple tools like compression (which can look just like dress socks) and elevation to ease his symptoms

Those of us in and care know how difficult it can be to get clients to be adherent to a plan of care

So this is nothing new

Just a total missed opportunity and glad to see other news outlets trying to educate the masses.

Compression use is fairly simple tool that can prevent progression especially when started early versus waiting until a wound starts

Early mobilization after surgery is important for recovery

These exercises are a good place to start immediately postop and for those first few days at home in between resting and managing discomfort.

Pretty simple, move what you can, repeat in a pain-free range of motion. Rest. Repeat.

When it's easy and you realize you haven't overdone it, it's time for something more advanced.

As that dark tissue comes off,

It may be deeper than expected, but getting down to that healthy red tissue underneath is how healing progresses quickly

Sharp debridement is the fastest way. Get to a wound specialist if you can

Bringing back some oldies cause it still holds true!

Wet-dry causes pain, chronic wounds and does nothing for infection.

Vaseline is thick and will clog the hokes versus supporting moisture balance.

Moisture balance is the goal in wound care

Not too wet to make a mess!
And not too dry that cells can't move around!

Wet-dry goes on wet and is meant to come off dry and mechanically debride the tissue it sticks too, which hopefully is only the dead necrotic tissue. It really does not provide an ideal moist heal environment

And near does Petroleum based products

There are many other items out there

Hydrogels
Honey
More advanced gels

So many options in how they are shaped

Some wounds should stay dry for a period of time to assess

Using ointments too early can open the wound more before it's stable and puts you at risk for infection.

If you find yourself in this situation, try this

💡Good nutrition (try .nutrition with code Heather15)
💡Get up and move every hour or at least do ankle pumps and diaphragmatic breathing
💡Try HBOT
💡Try Redlight theray
💡Don't panic. Call your doctor

A good example of how removing the dead tissue reveals what's underneath, allowing the body to do its thing and heal

We had to switch treatments along the way to get here

Science and technology have come a long way, and so should your wound care.
