Incredible news for our downtown community! In order to pair with our super successful first Fridays, on “First Thursdays” Troy will also have a farmers market! This pairs so well with wellness, health and what we promote as “Food as Medicine”!!!👏👏👏🙌
The time has come to make an announcement and some changes for the 2026 Season…
Thanks to all of you, our families, vendors, farmers, and supporters—we’ve built a strong, wonderful community around local food and small businesses.
In the last decade, the farmers market space has changed, and we’ve done our best to continue our mission- connecting the community to local food.
But we know to stay relevant and give our vendors more avenues to grow and make money, we need to make changes. None of these are easy decisions, the market board has spent a lot of time reviewing sales numbers, consulting with our founding members and weighing options.
That said, the market will be relocating to Downtown Troy and evolving into Jarvis Square Market starting this season. This move allows us to expand in ways we can’t in Maryville (through no fault of their own). Lack of foot traffic or brick and mortar business anchors has increasingly become an issue these last few years, combined with several bad weather days. In a Downtown district there are places for people to go, shop, eat and drink besides the market, making it more viable for less than perfect weather days, plus additional foot traffic, alcoholic beverages, coffee shop and restaurants are all within the new market space. This kind of vibrant downtown market experience seems to be where farmers markets are thriving and we are hoping we do as well! We will be doing a monthly Third Thursday market alongside the very successful First Fridays in Troy, which several market vendors also participate in.
What does this mean for Maryville?
We are not saying goodbye. ❤️
Once Firemans Park construction is complete, we will reassess what is best for the farmers and vendors and what our market looks like at that time. Since we will be on a monthly schedule in Troy, we do have options.
The Maryville community helped us become who we are, and we are forever grateful. Thank you for being part of our story. We hope you’ll stay with us on this new chapter—and join us in Troy for a new market experience on Third Thursdays!
If you have questions, just ask. We’re an open book and excited for what’s ahead! Follow along as the Maryville Farmers Market 501(c)3 and our board have a new chapter to write. We will be co-branding this page with Jarvis Township but not doing a name change for the nonprofit in 2026. Same people, same mission, new space. 🌾✨
