In our Skill Building Program, members are exercising all of their muscles - physical, social, creative, and cognitive.

This month alone included pickleball matches (with paddles generously donated by 🏓), hands-on exploration at the Cranbrook Institute of Science, and time in a creative arts class that encouraged self-expression and confidence.

These varied experiences are made possible thanks to the , whose generous grant supported our Skill Building Program throughout the month - opening the door to opportunities that challenge, engage, and inspire our members in meaningful ways.

We’re grateful for community partners who help make this kind of well-rounded, real-world learning possible.

Spring break for Independence College may have slowed the pace around the office, but not the momentum.

Here are just a couple of wins from the week:

One of our members learned how to use SMART Flex - opening up their independence by successfully navigating transportation on their own.

Our Independent Living team built a library of personalized learning materials to help members practice and grow between coaching sessions.

These aren't just small wins - they're real steps toward independence, confidence, and community.

Every day, our members are building meaningful skills, discovering new interests, and taking steps toward the futures they want for themselves.

With March highlighting Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, it’s a meaningful time to support programs that empower people to grow on their own terms.

If you believe in creating opportunities for independence, confidence, and community, we’d be grateful for your support.

The most powerful part of our work is watching our members discover just how capable they are - taking steps toward independence that reflect their strengths, their interests, and their hopes for the future.

This month happens to be Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, which makes it an especially meaningful moment to support programs that lift up and empower neurodiverse young adults.

If our mission speaks to you, we invite you to make a gift that helps keep this journey moving forward.

Luck? A little.

Hard work? Definitely!

OMO member Chris has had a great couple of weeks - he was a big winner at the Clawson Chamber of Commerce Euchre tournament AND just landed a new job after a dedicated search!

Luck of the Irish? Maybe. But we're betting on hard work, confidence, and a great community. Way to go, Chris!
