It's been another epic year of Independence Prep Summer Camp! As the session comes to an end, we're going to miss seeing these smiling faces every day, but have enjoyed the daily walks, morning meetings, delicious lunches, and outings to the Detroit Zoo and so much more!

It was a busy summer with not only camp, but also the new Residency program with 5 students spending weeknights in apartments, practicing the skills they learned each day, and the two-night Overnight Experience with 9 participants.

There was plenty of learning and as you can see, plenty of smiles!

We hope the Education team gets some much-needed rest this weekend!

We had such a blast at Friday's Bowl for Independence at Escape in Troy! Thanks to everyone who came out - bowlers, sponsors, friends, supporters, and cheerleaders! Each of you helped make the evening a success.

This is so exciting!

Stagecrafters is looking for an actor with Down syndrome and for members of the Down syndrome community to work on their production of 'Amy and the Orphans.'

Auditions for Amy and the Orphans are now open!

This heartfelt, funny, and moving play will take the Second Stage this fall, and we’re looking for an incredible cast to bring it to life.

At the heart of the story is Amy, a woman with Down syndrome whose honesty and humor anchor this unforgettable family journey. In line with the playwright’s vision, we’re seeking an actor with Down syndrome to portray Amy.

Auditions will be held Tuesday, August 12 at Stagecrafters.

The Skill Building Program turned up the fun dial while staying cool this weekend. They beat the heat by diving into Creative Arts, painting floral canvases, and grooving to some mellow lo-fi beats.
