A big shout out to our friends at Dave's Services and Power 107.1 WTJN for their continued support of our Miami County Special Olympics program! These donations make it possible for us to support athletes throughout each season of the 8 sports we offer year-round, in addition to sending them to State Games, like we did this past weekend. Thank you again for your amazing support!

Please help us congratulate the Miami County Special Olympics athletes who competed at the Special Olympics Ohio Winter State Games this weekend!

Swimmers placed in multiple events and categories (final results will be confirmed soon and we will post then) but in the meantime, congratulations are in order for:

We also extend a big congratulations to our Division 3 basketball team, who brought home the GOLD for the second year in a row! The team completed hard against Hilliard in game 1, and Henry County in game 2. Players on the D3 team include:

The athletes had a wonderful time and we have our dedicated volunteers (swim coaches Hannah Ryan and Mary Ivan; basketball coach Dalton Logan - D3 coach) as well as the many sponsors and donors who contribute to Miami County Special Olympics to make seasons and trips like this possible. We also want to thank volunteer coach Alex Dalton who coached our D5 team this year, volunteers Johnnie Dennis, Sr., and Blake Hinger who helped coach the D5 teams, referee Randy Buroker and scorekeeper Donovan Richard, who all made this winter basketball season a huge success.

We are happy to share that we have found a terrific musician to fill the special volunteer bell choir director role, which was left vacant after the passing of our wonderful director, Julie Finley, in 2025. We now welcome Krissy O'Malley, who will assist us in holding 2 Bell Choir seasons each year! We look forward to having Krissy lead us on many musical adventures!

To kick off our Spring 2026 Bell Choir season, we will host a 2-session handbell workshop to allow those interested to simply check out what it is like to play handbells. We will then have a Sign-Up Night on March 24 at 5pm for those who want to make it official and join our Spring Bell Choir. What a great opportunity for our friends at RT Industries to be a part of the grand opening of the new rest areas in Miami County! These new rest areas are not only new and improved, but they include Universal Changing Spaces for anyone who needs a larger changing station for restroom needs. Spread the word so that those who need this accessible feature know where to make a convenient stop. Way to go, Ohio!
