Gentiva Hospice Troy and Gentiva Hospice Asheboro joined forces with Stephanie and Dave Owen from Dave's Dungeon in Denton to host a wonderful Veterans breakfast in July, titled "The Morning Brew." Over 15 veterans came out to this new event location and had a wonderful time of food and fellowship. We are excited to announce that this was such a successful event that we will be doing this on a quarterly basis at Dave's Dungeon gym. It's always a pleasure to meet and share stories with local veterans and their guests over a cup of coffee and a home-cooked meal. Thank you to the amazing heroes who gave so much for our country and our freedom.

Such an amazing turnout today at the Veterans Breakfast Club at the Stanly County Senior Center, hosted by Gentiva Hospice and Amivie TLC at Home. Over 50 veterans filled the room with laughter, conversations, and good food. What a wonderful morning it was for all.

We had the pleasure of meeting with an amazing group of seniors today at the Troy/Montgomery County Senior Center, where we hosted a Lunch and Learn event. A delicious baked spaghetti dinner with all the fixings was enjoyed by all. It was great to share the hospice philosophy and the overall benefits of our services. We also had the honor of recognizing Army veteran Lonnie Haywood for his service with a special pinning ceremony as part of our We Honor Veterans program.

Today's volunteer spotlight shines on Donnna Dean, one of our dedicated volunteers. Donna engages in various activities, including assisting with special events, providing office and administrative support, and conducting companionship visits with patients. Her eagerness to help and warm smile are invaluable assets. Donna graciously shared her insights during a brief interview. :

1. What motivated you to become a hospice volunteer with Gentiva? "I find volunteering to be a deeply rewarding experience, allowing me to provide support to patients and their families."

2. What has been your most cherished memory as a hospice volunteer? "The penny auctions at senior facilities stand out, as they bring laughter and joy to others. Also, most recently, singing old hymns at the bedside of a patient who was in her final days, and seeing the peace and comfort that it brought her."

3. What advice would you give to others considering hospice volunteering? "It is such a gratifying experience to put a smile on their faces and to know that you made a difference in their lives."

We had the honor of cooking and serving breakfast to our local veterans in Stanley County at the Stanley County Senior Center this week. Joining us to co-host was Lindsey Chilton with Amivie (formerly TLC). Such a great morning of food and fellowship was had by all.
