Human Rights Day β€” December 10

Human rights are not ideas printed on a poster β€”
they are the difference between safety and fear,
between isolation and community,
between surviving and living.

They are the right to healthcare.
The right to dignity.
The right to love, to belong, to exist without judgment.

At the Albany Damien Center, these rights are not up for debate or delay β€” they live in the care we provide, the doors we keep open, and the community we protect every single day.

Human rights do not disappear when the world gets louder or harsher β€” and neither do we.

We have been here.
We are here.
And we will always stand for dignity, care, equity and equality.

We had a wonderful time at the Victorian Stroll and our Annual Open House yesterday. The streets were full and we met so many nice people who learned more about our services. We had a phenomenal performance by the Rensselyrics! Thank you to the group and The Heart and Mind Foundation for coordinating the performance. Thank you to the Troy, NY - City Hall and Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce for all their hard work in making the Stroll possible. And a heartfelt thank you to our staff, volunteers and board members who volunteered their time to work the event, bake the treats, decorate and clean up. 🌲🌲🌲

How does NY Connects help? One couple reached out to NY Connects for help setting up online accounts for their Social Security benefits because they saw on the news that this is something they can do easily.
