A Legacy of Smiles: Meet Dr. Allen & Dr. Hunter Blackmon
For over 30 years, Dr. Allen Blackmon has proudly cared for families in Troy — and now, he’s joined by the next generation. Together, this father-and-son team combines decades of trusted experience with fresh passion and perspective, all rooted in one shared mission: caring for people like family.
Dr. Blackmon was born in Ozark and raised in Enterprise. After graduating from Enterprise High School, he earned his Bachelor of Science mastering in Microbiology from the University of Alabama and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry at UAB. He completed a General Practice Residency at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham before opening his Troy practice in 1992 — building a legacy of compassionate, high- quality care that has served our community for over three decades.
A proud veteran of the Alabama Army National Guard, Dr. B brings dedication, integrity, and steady leadership to every patient he treats. He has served as Past President of the Third District Dental Society and remains active in the Alabama Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Facial Cosmetics to ensure patients always receive the most up-to-date care.
Outside the office, he enjoys life with his wife, Gloria and their puggle, Otis. They attend Troy First Methodist Church and are members of the Pathfinders Sunday School class. You may find him on the golf course, at the beach, or cheering on local teams — always with a smile and a story to share.
Dr. Hunter Blackmon was born and raised right here in Troy. A 2016 graduate of Charles Henderson High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from the University of Alabama before completing his Doctorate of Dental Medicine Degree at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry.
Dentistry has been part of Dr. Hunter‘s life from an early age. He spent afternoons in the office after school and began working summers at just 12 years old. It was during those years that he truly fell in love with treating patients and helping people feel confident in their smiles. Today, he especially enjoys cosmetic dentistry, and smile transformations — giving patients not only beautiful results, but renewed confidence.
He is a member of the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry and the Third District Dental Society, and he attends Troy First Methodist Church. Outside of the office, he enjoys learning Spanish, traveling to Mexico, spending time at the beach, and being with friends and his fiancée, Karla.
From father to son, this practice is built on service, compassion, and a genuine commitment to our community. When you visit our office, you’re not just a patient — you’re family!
