https://academicstrive.com/ANPCIJ/ANPCIJ180075.pdf

Authors: Abinew Y1*, Tesfaye B2, Nahusenay H2, Lake B2, Fenta Y2 and Abiye M3

Abstract
Background: Urinary catheterization is a procedure used to drain the bladder and collect urine, through a flexible tube called a
catheter. Poor urinary catheterization practice in catheterization increases the risk of developing urinary catheter complications
such as catheter-associated urinary tract infection, a leading cause of infection.
Objective: To assess urinary catheterization practice level, and its associated factors among Nurses at the three tertiary Hospitals
in the Amhara region, Northwest Ethiopia, 2021.
Design: A facility-based cross-sectional study design was conducted.
Method: Sample size was proportionally allocated. Then data were collected using a simple random sampling technique.
Bivariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses were conducted. A P-value-value, with 95% CI with the correspondence
AOR was used to declare significant variables in Bivariate and multivariable logistic regression.
Results: Four hundred twenty-four participants were included. 47.1% of Nurses had poor catheterization practice. Educational
qualification (AOR = 3.163, 95% CI 1.389 – 7.204), Low knowledge level (AOR = 3.808, 95% CI 1.940–7.474), and inadequate
Urinary catheter material (AOR = 1.866, 95% CI 1.219 – 2.859) were associated with catheterization malpractice.
Conclusion: In this study, nearly half (47.1%) of nurses had poor urinary catheterization practice. Educational level, availability
of catheterization materials, working hospital, and knowledge of respondents were significant variables in this study.

Nutritional Considerations for a NASH Related “Chronic Liver Disease Patient”- A Case Report

https://academicstrive.com/ANPCIJ/ANPCIJ180077.pdf

Authors: Tigga AP1 and Srivastava S2*

Abstract

This report discusses the nutritional considerations and management of a chronic liver disease patient (Non-Alcoholic Steato
Hepatitis) and the role of nurses to look after the specific dietary requirements while providing care to the patient. It focuses on
nursing care with emphasis on dietary considerations which were followed for the patient for duration of one week (9.10.23 to
13.10.23) when he was hospitalized at a tertiary Care Super specialty Liver hospital. During the patient evaluation and diagnosis,
the high scores of prognostic markers as CTP & MELD suggested that this patient had undergone extensive liver damage. Protein
Calorie malnutrition is common to all forms of Chronic Liver disease. Early identification and management of the micro and
macro nutrients deficiency is to be done to reduce complications. Hence, dietary management is one of the significant areas to
be closely monitored and managed to aid in recovery and management of the liver damage and in improving general wellbeing
of the patient..

Infodemic, Persuasion and Propaganda in Health Care System– A Challenge for Nurses in Delivering Qualty Nursing Care

https://academicstrive.com/ANPCIJ/ANPCIJ180079.pdf

Authors: Srivastava S*

Abstract

This paper presents a theoretical view on infodemic, propaganda and persuasion in health care system and the challenges
it poses in delivering quality nursing care. It analyzes the problem in context to nursing. For writing the review the multiple
databases were searched for the original articles and reviews in the last 5 years. Initial search resulted in 50 articles, from which,
20 articles were shortlisted based on their titles and abstract as potentially relevant to this review. All these articles were further
reviewed thoroughly. The review is presented to explain how infodemic, persuasion and propaganda affect the nursing practice.
Many a times the persuasive and informative components are incorporated into propagandistic communication by the health
care workers without even realizing the extent of their involvement and consequences. Infodemic has a massive, long lasting
irreversible damage to the society.
The nurses encounter the issue of infodemics and various forms of mis communication on a regular basis in their nursing
practice. Hence the main objective of this review is to sensitize the nursing fraternity on this issue and proactively equip them
with the knowledge and awareness to avert or to manage such situations.

Effect of Twill Technique vs Endotracheal Tube Holder on Endotracheal Tube Securement [ETTS] Outcomes among Orally Intubated Patients Admitted in Intensive Care Units

https://academicstrive.com/ANPCIJ/ANPCIJ180072.pdf

Authors: Sharma K1*, Kaur A1, Rani B1, Singh S1 and Gautam PL2

Abstract

Endotracheal intubation is often an emergency procedure that is performed on people who are unconscious or who can’t breathe on their own. Endotracheal Intubation maintains an open airway and helps to prevent suffocation. Once the patient is intubated, maintenance of the endotracheal tube placement is essential. When Endotracheal Tube is not secured, even basic nursing management can cause tube slippage which is a major factor in causing airway trauma. Aim: To assess the effect of Twill Technique vs Endotracheal Tube Holder on Endotracheal Tube Securement [ETTS] Outcomes among orally intubated patients admitted in ICUs.

Methodology: A post-test only control group design (two experimental groups) was used to assess the effect of Twill Technique vs Endotracheal Tube Holder on Endotracheal Tube Securement [ETTS] Outcomes among orally intubated patients.

Results: The findings revealed that for General Assessment, it was concluded that statistical significant result was found between experimental group1 and experimental group2 (p

Bacterial Vaginosis during Reproductive Age

https://academicstrive.com/ANPCIJ/ANPCIJ180069.pdf

Authors: Gouda ADK1* and Al Ghadeer H2,3

Abstract

Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) formerly known as Gardnerella Vaginalis, and nonspecific vaginitis is the commonest type of vaginitis.
Gardnerella Vaginalis is a facultatively anaerobic gram-variable rod. It has been demonstrated to cause a wide variety of infections;
however, it is most commonly recognized for its role as one of the organisms responsible for BV. In 1954 Gardener and Dues first
described a condition characterized by abnormal vaginal findings associated with the presence of a small gram-negative rod they
named Haemophilus Vaginalis and most common during reproductive age due to sexuality active, and contraceptive methods
especially IUD.

https://academicstrive.com/ANPCIJ/ANPCIJ180067.pdf

Authors: Joseph S*, Mathew R and Nayak SG

Abstract

Introduction: The Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT) is a fundamental medical and nursing skill that describes the infection
prevention and control methodologies and precautions required during invasive clinical procedures to reduce the risk of
transmission of microorganisms from health care providers, equipment, or the environment to a patient. It is essential that
healthcare providers have a thorough understanding of the dangers they pose to patients and that this knowledge can be
demonstrated in practice. This review protocol aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the current state of healthcare care
provider knowledge, attitude, and practice of ANTT.
Methods: This study will be conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses
(PRISMA)-2009 with the use of sample, Phenomenon of Interest, Design, Evaluation, and Research Type (SPIDER) and
Population, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome (PICO) tools to structure the research question. The following databases
will be searched to identify eligible published papers (CINAHL, PUBMED/Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane
Library) and unpublished papers and ‘grey’ literature (ProQuest Dissertations & Theses, Open SIGLE and the Grey literature
report).

Discussion: The review protocol will serve as a valuable resource for healthcare professionals, policymakers, educators, and
researchers working towards enhancing patient safety and reducing HAIs.
