This past week, one of the places I've taken classes before announced a new class on doing sound healing with neurodivergent children.
Now...I think this is an important topic. I'm neurodivergent. My kids are neurodivergent. I've done energy work of all sorts with them their whole lives. I think energy work (of all types) is sorely underestimated when it comes to helping neurodivergent people survive a neurotypical world.
But.
This course is ridiculously overpriced (especially compared to this school's other offerings). It's taught by a group of "educators," (what kind of educators? we have no idea) most of whom aren't energy work experts, and most of whom are apparently not neurodivergent. Some of the bonuses are really sort of insulting.
I'm going to be blunt: most of us neurodivergent folks aren't all that different from neurotypcial people when it comes to energy work - everyone reacts differently, everyone has sounds they don't tolerate well. You don't need some special class just to prepare for an autistic person to attend a sound bath.
But if you want to know how to make your energy work environment more welcoming to neurotypical people, talk to some of us. If you want to learn how to work with kids better, spend time with kids in a non-creepy, non-supervisory role.
And don't look at it as a marketing gimmick. If your goal is to help people, then help people. Learn to do that regardless of whether or not they look disabled to you, regardless of whether their socioeconomic status or race or ethnicity matches your own, regardless of age, religion, s*x, gender, who they have s*x with or what their family looks like.
