Community Opportunities was honored to meet with Missouri State Representative Doyle Justus this week. Families, individuals we support, case managers, and staff came together to share how our services make a difference every day — and how vital Medicaid is to ensuring people with developmental disabilities can live, work, and thrive in their communities.

We’re grateful to Rep. Justus for taking the time to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and express genuine interest in helping more Missourians access the care and support they deserve.

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we’re celebrating Cauy, who shows what inclusion in the workplace can look like.

Cauy is in his second year working at Elsberry School District — and that’s not his only job! For the past five years, he’s also been part of the team at Sun Valley Golf Course, where Community Opportunities assisted him in securing employment and continues to provide follow-along support.

His dedication, reliability, and enthusiasm make him a valued team member in both roles — proof that meaningful work builds both confidence and community.

💼 Our Impact:
Community Opportunities currently supports 16 individuals in employment services, provides extended follow-along support to 17 more, and will welcome 3 new individuals later this month.

When people with disabilities are given opportunities to contribute their talents, everyone benefits — workplaces grow stronger, and communities become more inclusive.

Thank you to LCCOA for treating us yesterday! They sent Fern & Flute out to make us some delicious drinks. The decades long partnership is so important to our folks and we are grateful for the thoughtful token of appreciation!

And Jamie with Fern & Flute was great, she gave our pal Eddie a shot at serving up some drinks. He had a blast!
