The effects of the hold on SNAP benefits was seen yesterday at the Mount Ida Community Food Pantry. We served 97 FAMILIES in an hour and a half. We can't thank Lilli and the Times Union enough for helping to bring awareness at this difficult time. For those reaching out to help, donations of food and personal hygiene items can be dropped off at the pantry(548 Congress st, Troy) any Friday or Saturday morning and monetary donations can be sent via Venmo- or check -sent to Mount Ida Food Pantry, C/O Denise Dunham, 10 Prospect ave, Troy, NY 12180. We continue to thank our community and friends for their generous support so we can continue to help our neighbors in need.
"I have never seen so many pantries running out of food just this week," said Natasha Pernicka, the executive director of the Food Pantries of the Capital District. "It's a profound emergency."
