TOMORROW IS GIVING TUESDAY. A day when we invite you to join our mission of uplifting our Neighbors in Need. Every dollar donated fuels our quest to feed our neighbors. Consider donating through our Venmo Ida Food Pantry or food donations can be dropped off Friday morning between 9am and 11am, Saturday morning between 9am and 12pm or call(518-272-1115) to set up an appointment to drop off. With your continued support we can keep shining a light of hope for our neighbors in need.

What an incredible community we're blessed to be part of! Trying to provide food assistance through the Mount Ida Food Pantry to 188 families in just two weeks was a monumental task, but with the overwhelming support we received from our community, we miraculously accomplished it! We can't express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who generously sent us monetary donations through Venmo and by mail. We're forever thankful for the outpouring of support and generosity from everyone!
But, as we look forward to SNAP benefits being restored our work is not done. We will continue to help our neighbors in need each week. Offering them fresh produce, bread, meats, cheese, milk, eggs, shelf stable groceries and personal hygiene items. And with your continued support we will be able to do it.
I feel blessed to be a part in Neighbors Helping Neighbors. ❤️

The effects of the hold on SNAP benefits was seen yesterday at the Mount Ida Community Food Pantry. We served 97 FAMILIES in an hour and a half. We can't thank Lilli and the Times Union enough for helping to bring awareness at this difficult time. For those reaching out to help, donations of food and personal hygiene items can be dropped off at the pantry(548 Congress st, Troy) any Friday or Saturday morning and monetary donations can be sent via Venmo- or check -sent to Mount Ida Food Pantry, C/O Denise Dunham, 10 Prospect ave, Troy, NY 12180. We continue to thank our community and friends for their generous support so we can continue to help our neighbors in need.

"I have never seen so many pantries running out of food just this week," said Natasha Pernicka, the executive director of the Food Pantries of the Capital District. "It's a profound emergency."

As the government shut down continues, some community members in the Capital Region have been scrambling to get food after the USDA announced federal food aid, including SNAP benefits will run out on Nov. 1.

ATTENTION ALL FARMERS AND GARDENERS!!
Who doesn't love nice, fresh, locally grown produce?? The Mount Ida Food Pantry takes pride in offering its guests fresh produce every Saturday, but this endeavor can be quite overwhelming at times, when serving 60-80 families each week. We are reaching out to local farmers and gardeners to inquire whether you would consider donating surplus produce to the Mount Ida Food Pantry, thereby enabling us to continue providing fresh, healthy produce to our guests. No amount is too small, we are really good at sharing.😊 Thank you.
