According to Feeding America 2017:
*17, 680 (or 11.1% ) People were Food Insecure in Rensselaer County, 5,710 of which were children.

****If you would like to help you can donate via Venmo ***** We serve those who find themselves in a time when help is needed to continue feeding their family without having to go without in other areas of their lives, such as medicine, heat, housing, etc. In 2011 alone, we assisted over 2,480 individuals (or 934 households). The Mount Ida Community Food Pantry Little Library is in need of children's books again. We have many young children who stop in every Saturday just to grab a book or two. Let's continue to encourage the love of reading📚. Please share this post and spread the word.

A heartfelt thank you to the BMES group at RPI for dedicating their time to the Mount Ida Food Pantry and Mount Ida Preservation Association. Their tireless efforts in serving guests, beautifying the yard, and preparing the Sanctuary for the 'Dinner over the Falls' gala this Friday evening demonstrate the profound impact that selfless individuals can have. Their commitment to giving back is a shining example of the power of community and the potential for positive change.

ATTENTION ALL FARMERS AND GARDENERS!!
Who doesn't love nice, fresh, locally grown produce?? The Mount Ida Food Pantry takes pride in offering its guests fresh produce every Saturday, but this endeavor can be quite overwhelming at times, when serving 60-80 families each week. We are reaching out to local farmers and gardeners to inquire whether you would consider donating surplus produce to the Mount Ida Food Pantry, thereby enabling us to continue providing fresh, healthy produce to our guests. No amount is too small, we are really good at sharing.😊 Thank you.

We continue to fill our "Walk up Pantry" each week for those needing an extra hand during the week when the Mount Ida Food Pantry is closed. We are always looking for donations of NON-PERISHABLE foods, fresh produce or personal hygiene products to keep it stocked. Neighbors are encouraged to stop by any time to slip in an item to share or take something that may be needed. Together we can make a difference. ❤️

DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE IN NEED OF FOOD IN THE MOUNT IDA HILL AREA DURING THE WEEK WHEN THE MOUNT IDA COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY IS CLOSED? WELL, A WONDERFUL YOUNG LADY FROM THE EMMA WILLARD SCHOOL SAW A NEED AND GOT RIGHT TO WORK SOLVING THAT PROBLEM. KENDALL BRYAN BUILT A "PORTABLE FOOD PANTRY" TO BE PLACED OUTSIDE THE PANTRY TO BE FILLED WITH NON-PERISHABLE FOODS THAT THOSE IN NEED CAN ACCESS WHEN THE PANTRY IS CLOSED TO MAKE ENDS MEET UNTIL THE PANTRY IS OPEN AND ABLE TO HELP THEM MORE. FEEL FREE TO HELP YOURSELF AT OUR "PORTABLE FOOD PANTRY" IF NEEDED. AND DONATIONS OF NON-PERISHABLE FOODS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME.
KENDALL, AS WELL AS MANY OF THE YOUNG GIRLS AT EMMA WILLARD, HAVE DONE SO MUCH FOR THE MOUNT IDA FOOD PANTRY FROM FUNDRAISING, TO COLLECTING FOOD ITEMS, TO VOLUNTEERING EACH SATURDAY AT THE FOOD PANTRY. WE COULDN'T BE MORE PROUD OR THANKFUL FOR HOW THESE GIRLS HAVE MADE THEMSELVES SUCH A VITAL PART OF THEIR COMMUNITY.

What a wonderful time we had today remembering A VERY SPECIAL WOMAN and an important part of the Mount Ida Community Food Pantry as we celebrated the life of PATTI VARNER who sadly passed away on November 6, 2024. We chose this time of the year to have her Celebration of Life, as Spring was one of her favorite times of the year. Patti loved all things nature and had the greenest thumb I know. You will forever be missed Patti but will live forever in our hearts. 🥰

JUNE 3RD IS THE MOUNT IDA COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY'S 3RD ANNUAL AUCTION FUNDRAISER AT RYAN'S WAKE IN DOWNTOWN TROY. WE WILL BE AUCTIONING OFF A $50 GIFT CARD TO DINOSAUR BBQ, 4 PACK OF ZOOM FLUME TICKETS, 4 PACK OF VALLEY CATS TICKETS AND OF COURSE EVERYONE'S FAVORITE THE YANKEE TICKETS, JUST TO NAME A FEW.
SO JOIN US FOR A GREAT NIGHT WITH GREAT FRIENDS TO SUPPORT A GREAT ORGANIZATION. SEE YOU THERE!!

THE MOUNT IDA FOOD PANTRY HAS BEEN GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET FRESH EGGS FOR OUR GUESTS. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THEY COME IN BULK PACKAGES OF 180 EGGS. WE ARE LOOKING FOR DONATIONS OF CLEAN, EMPTY EGG CARTONS SO WE CAN SAFELY DISTRIBUTE THE EGGS TO OUR GUESTS. EGG CARTONS CAN BE DROPPED OFF FRIDAY MORNINGS, FRIDAY EVENINGS, OR SATURDAY MORNING DURING FOOD PANTRY HOURS. PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS. THE MORE CARTONS WE RECEIVE THE MORE FAMILIES WE CAN HELP. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

The Mount Ida Community Food Pantry
is having its
SUPER BOWL SQUARE FUNDRAISER.

The Mount Ida Community Food Pantry is reaching out to its neighbors for help. Many of our guests walk to and from the Food Pantry each Saturday. Now that it has become quite cold out we would love to offer them warm hats and mittens/gloves to help keep them warm. We are looking for donations of men's, womans and children's hats, mittens and gloves. 🧤Donations can be dropped off at the pantry(548 Congress st, Troy-right next to the Cookie Factory) any Friday morning between 9:00 & 11:00am or Saturdays between 9:00am & 12:00pm. If you would prefer to give a donation and items will be purchased on your behalf checks can be sent to the address above or you may Venmo donations to Dunham(Mount Ida food pantry)and specify it is for hat/glove purchase.
