I am so happy to be bringing on one of my teachers from Acupuncture school onto my podcast. Bryan Isacks was the one who introduced me to the Yang Style Tai Ji Quan during my first semester in school that made me fall in love with martial arts. Bryan also taught me my tui na skills and introduced me to all the amazing qigong you see on my channel! He is a dear friend and mentor who never hesitates to have a chat about business or life in general.

Here on this episode, we are going to talk about how martial arts and qigong can help heal your body in amazing ways. Bryan teaches Ba Gua Zhang, Tai Ji Quan and Medical Qigong. Join us on April 17th at 10a.m to learn more about how Qigong can help relieve your pain.

Bryan Isacks is booking appointments for acupuncture and manual medicine!

To My Dear Patients

It has been a long spring, hasn't it? I hope all of you have been well! My family and I have been busy moving to a lovely new house here in the area, teaching online, and doing my very best to help my kids do all their schoolwork online. We are happy to report that we have stayed well, and busy. That said, I have missed all of you greatly, and I am thrilled to tell you that acupuncture has been named an essential medical service in New York State, and we are back in business, with no pause for the foreseeable future! For your safety, and to remain in compliance with New York State guidelines, you will notice some differences in the practice.

• Booking will be limited to one patient per hour for the initial weeks of reopening-- this is important so that we can fully clean and disinfect rooms between every visit, and limit the number of people in the waiting room at any given time. As such, I will have a more difficult time accommodating same-day schedule changes and cancellations. I would like to encourage you to book your appointments in advance here (https://square.site/book/FJDQ1RHPH2CXH/tao-healing-arts-trumansburg-ny) in our booking site, or to call or text me directly at 607-592-3943 if you don't see anything available. Additionally, there is no cancellation fee if you note symptoms including fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste, nausea, or general viral symptoms. In the event that you are experiencing symptoms, please call on the day of your appointment, and we will work on a home treatment plan for symptoms reduction. There are many ways for me to help you, but it is essential for you to stay home and contact the health department if you feel sick. Your temperature will be taken at your visit, but if you have reason to believe you have been exposed to SARS CO-V-2, or you feel sick, the best option is to call and we will do home treatment for you.

• For your safety, and per New York State law, practitioners and patients must wear masks while in the office. You may bring your own mask, or a disposable mask will be provided to you upon entry. This is mandatory in New York State, and is for the safety of all. Once in treatment, if it is necessary to remove a mask for comfort, safety, or treatment, we will do so. Additionally, you will notice that I am in scrubs, surgical mask, eye protection, and other personal protective equipment. Rest assured that I am still smiling at you under the mask!

• Rooms will be cleaned and disinfected between every use, and every surface will be disinfected between patients. We will be doing contactless payment with credit cards, although checks and cash are still accepted. There will be multiple hand sanitizing stations throughout the office. We will encourage you to sanitize your hands upon entry. You can rest assured that we will be providing a clean, safe environment for you. This disinfection and cleaning may take a little extra time before your appointment, so we ask that you please wait in your car until we are ready to bring you inside. I promise I won't leave you outside for too long, and if it is hot, feel free to come to the door and I will make sure we get you to a nice cool room quickly.

If you’re looking for more ways to protect yourself and your loved ones, check out the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) website-- this is where both New York State and my practice are drawing our guidelines from.

Thank you so much for sticking with us! I have missed hearing your stories, laughing and talking with you, and working with you on your health. I can't wait to see you! In addition to booking an appointment (https://square.site/book/FJDQ1RHPH2CXH/tao-healing-arts-trumansburg-ny) , there are other ways you can support our practice and the community! Please consider buying gift cards (https://squareup.com/gift/1DFF2RPWRK8D7/order) for friends and family who may need help. If you know you will be coming in for several sessions, it is also a great time to buy a discounted treatment package! We offer a 10% discount on both five session (https://checkout.square.site/buy/X5C2PTQWY2TJHIB773MJOLGL) and ten session (https://checkout.square.site/buy/2CFKCWRBE5VEMCPY4VUJWCBW) packages.

I look forward to seeing you all, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out! You can email me at info@taohealingarts.org, and call or text me at 607-592-3943. Click here to reserve your appointment (https://square.site/book/FJDQ1RHPH2CXH/tao-healing-arts-trumansburg-ny) and I'll see you soon!

All my best,
Bryan

To My Dear Patients

Hello from quarantine! It has been almost a full month since I have seen you, and I wanted to tell you all that I miss you and am thinking of you in these difficult times we are enduring. I hope this letter finds you well, and that you are safe and comfortable. My family and I have all remained healthy thus far-- my kids are doing their school work virtually, but what is really interesting to watch is how their boredom stimulates curiosity, and the interesting places it has led them. My daughter Sophie has a copy of “The Writer’s Market” for 2020, and is reading, writing, and submitting everything from poetry to short fiction to research articles. Ryder, my ten year old son, has taught himself morse code, and how to tie a variety of necktie knots that I frankly was completely ignorant of until now. I have been lucky enough to continue teaching for the acupuncture college virtually for the time being, and have gotten extremely familiar with video technology on the computer. That said, I am thinking of you, and of your care-- many of you were in the midst of getting good results from treatment, and I wonder how you are doing? Please feel free to reach out to me via my cell phone, 607-592-3943, or by email at info@taohealingarts.org just to catch up.

I also wanted to let you know that I have spent the past month ironing out the process, but I am pleased to now offer a brand new way to help you with your health! I have been working on the treatment processes I will use, and the technology I will use to offer them, and have come up with three different options to maintain your care with traditional Chinese medicine:

Virtual Chinese Medicine Treatments:

Virtual sessions for all conditions. While acupuncture and manual therapies are our most common tool, there are several modalities of Chinese medicine that are equally effective. In a virtual treatment, I set you up with an extremely simple to follow, and privacy protected video call. All you need is a computer, smartphone, or iPad. From there, we will conduct an intake and assess your condition, and I will provide you with a comprehensive home treatment plan that consists of:
Corrective movement
External medicines shipped to your door
Qigong exercises to rebalance your system
Guided acupressure, and self massage

While it may seem difficult to replace a practitioner’s touch, I can assure you that home care regimens are equally effective, and often BETTER than having external therapies done for you and to you. I support you through the process the entire way, with evidence based practice and guidance. Telemedicine and email options are also available.

Chinese Telemedicine:

Herbal Consults for all conditions. Using a local herbal pharmacy that is open and utilizing safe distancing practices, I will assess your condition, and prescribe you herbal medicine for your condition. Chinese Herbal Medicine is safe, highly nuanced, and tailored to your specific condition as well as your constitution. Herbs are evidence based, and come from an enormous base of clinical practice at a hospital setting. We can treat everything from the common cold to advanced autoimmune conditions, from low back pain to migraines, and we are able to do so safely and precisely. Chinese medicine practitioners fully understand how to avoid contraindications with existing medicine you may be taking, and how to avoid adverse reactions.

Private Virtual Qi Gong Instruction:

Qi gong is a Chinese movement practice, in some ways similar to yoga, where we gently twist, stretch, flex, and extend every part of the body in coordination with deep breathing and a focused mind. I have spent the past twenty years of my life immersed in the practice of qi gong, tai chi, and ba gua zhang, and have taught it professionally at the master’s degree level since 2007, and have trained with several of the finest practitioners in the world. I am a certified instructor with Internal Arts International, and am excited to take a small number of private students. Anyone can benefit from practicing qigong in these difficult times, no matter what age or level of health. Qi gong systems offered include:
Ba Duan Jin: Also known as the Eight Pieces of Brocade, this is a full body exercise system that boosts immunity, and strengthens and stretches every part of your body.
Five Element Qi Gong: Specifically designed to strengthen you organs, gentle and profound meditative movement that boosts your energy and feels fantastic.
Heavenly Stem Spinal Qi Gong: A workout for your spine that introduces advanced movement practice for optimal performance.
For serious practitioners, I offer private instruction in Ba Gua Zhang-- Eight Diagram Palm: a Chinese martial art similar to taijiquan (Tai Chi). For more information, contact me and we can see if this is a good fit for you.

I am currently opening booking for the above options-- visit taohealingarts.org (http://www.taohealingarts.org) and click “book now” to reserve your appointment, or call or text 607-592-3943. I look forward to working with you again!
