This week has been a week where I’ve been wearing so many hats… so many new things, different things… just a lot but…. The one thing that remained constant: I LOVE my life. I’m able to create edible art, support young minds, friends, friends and teachers, be a mom, PTA member, Coach, a business owner, a friend…

It takes a village and I’m insanely grateful for everyone that has been there. Thank you for having my back this week.

It was 2016 - I had made decorated cookies for the first time and started making cookies for friends for their kiddos birthdays, my best friends baby shower… that lead to my first cookies desk and set up. Bought a second hand dehydrator from a neighbor off Facebook neighborhood group (market place was not a thing yet - and that’s still the one I use today). My love for decorating cookies and make celebration cakes was just starting.

2016: definitely a wonderful amazing year that brought me to what I am today.

Yes, it started as a hobby… today it’s a business.
Follow your passion. If it’s in your heart there’s a reason for it.

About US

Introducing myself has always been difficult for me. I have a very diverse background. I'm a born and raised Dominican who moved to US after finishing medical school in pursue of a medical career. I'm currently a Licensed Nutritionist/Certified Nutritionist Specialist. Also, while being a Mom, I discovered my passion for cooking and baking. I started learning about baking online in December of 2015 while I finished my Masters in Nutrition. After lots of trials, I have been making beautiful cookies and celebration cakes. While I was improving my skills, the Cottage Food Law in CT was being finalized and now I’m also a Licensed Cottage Food Operator and Owner of this proud home-based business 'Sweets by Mariela LLC'.
