Pathway to Mindfulness We are meditation teachers, mindfulness coaches and authors of The Mindfulness Rx and Chronic Pain? .

Contact us for info about our classes, conducted either personally or over Zoom. The intention of all our programs is for participants to fully engage in their lives. Mindfulness can be used to treat chronic pain, depression, stress, anxiety, gastro-intestinal distress, insomnia, fatigue, high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer. We teach:
* mindfulness meditation, an insightful meditation that helps calm the chatter of your thoughts and aids in any of the aforementioned issues;
* mindful eating, which is not a diet but a way to develop a good relationship with food that if needed, will help you lose weight.
* and the structured 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stressed Reduction program, based on what is offered at UMass Medical School.

The essence of mindfulness is to live in the present, focusing on the pleasant and practicing gratitude. We are leaving Facebook and Instagram because we can no longer support a company that ignores facts, instead relying on crowd sourcing, which ignites and focuses on negativity. We have enjoyed sharing this wonderful practice for several years and will miss the friends we have made.

Mindful moment. A candle flickering can be mesmerizing. It can also improve your focus and concentration, and energize tired eyes. An added plus — it is so very calming. What could be easier than lighting a candle and taking a few deep breaths as you gaze at the flame.

Mindful moment. Sometime today, when you are transitioning from one activity to another, set a timer for 60 seconds and just breathe. This creates a space, a chance to tune in to the present and relax.

Mindful moment. Throughout the day, take a few pauses and think about all the things in your life that you are grateful for. It doesn’t have to be a long pause; simply a minute or two of reflection.

Mindful moment. Do you take time to eat your food or do you rush through every meal? Mindful eating is a lovely practice, something that is not easy to do, especially if you fit into the latter category. Today, let’s try one mindful easy eating exercise.
Before you eat any food, look at your plate and think about the journey the food took to get there.
Think about the food you’re about to eat and how it will make your body feel. And finally, be grateful for the abundance on your plate.

Mindful moment. Time to change negative thoughts. First, be
aware of the thought. Next, change that thought to a positive one.
Try adding positive words like I can, I will, I am strong, I am
confident. Then turn your thoughts to what makes you grateful –
those people, places or things that bring a smile to your face.

Mindful moment. Words matter. Consider these three statements:
 I plan to lose 10 pounds this month.
 I intend to lose 10 pounds this month.
 My goal is to lose 10 pounds this month.
We like the word intend, which implies a determination to make
something happen. Plans can easily be changed. And goals? If
you don’t lose those 10 pounds you might lose your motivation
and mentally beat yourself up. If you set an intention daily it
provides a sense of purpose, inspiration and motivation – no
matter how long it takes.

Mindful moment. Look outside a window in your home as if you’re
seeing the view for the first time. Identify five things you have
never seen before. Wildlife? Sunny, cloudy, rainy or snowy?
Really look: There really is so much to see.

Mindful moment. Today, the first day of 2025, is a new beginning.
Make this a year to be open and curious. If you make a resolution,
look to the sacred trio of love, compassion and kindness – to self
and others.
