Fireworks Safety Tips during the 4th of July..

Fireworks are synonymous with the 4th of July holiday. With some communities across the country canceling their professional displays this year because of social distancing concerns, there could be an increase in the personal use of fireworks, along with a potential for increased injuries. Sue Rowe, a charge nurse in the Burn Center at Children’s of Alabama says thousands of people, most often children and teens, are injured each year while using consumer fireworks. Did you know it only takes 20 minutes for the inside of a car to reach 114 degrees when it's 85 degrees outside? Avoid heat stroke-related injury or death by never leaving your child alone in a car, not even for a minute. Create reminders - place something you'll need like a cell phone next to the car seat. Take action if you see a child alone in a car, call 911.
