Many of you may know that I was a patient and employee of OrthoAlabama and Dr. Savage before I was a doctor. We are going to miss his daily presence at the office. He was a role model that most surgeons can only hope to find. He has always provided the best care for his patients by working hard and continuing to evolve and learn throughout his career. He treats staff and partners like family.

And while I/we will miss him at the office, he deserves to do other things too.

I guess.

Dr. Gilmer's team got to spend some time away from work supporting the Birmingham Zoo and it's Tails in the Trails fundraiser. While Carlito the anteater did not attend the party in his honor, some of his friends did.

Had a great time this Saturday at the Perry Initiative in Birmingham. Perry's goal is to help get girls excited in STEM (particularly orthopedics). All those femurs are nailed, knee ligaments reconstructed and vertical sheer medial malleolus fractures fixed! What a day.

Dr. Gilmer attended a course in Denver this weekend. She spent time working with CT/MRI guided custom total ankles. This new technology helps make more patients a candidate for replacement.
