🚴‍♀️ We Did It! 🚴‍♂️

Last night we officially finished biking the Erie Canal Trail! 🎉
Yesterday we pushed through 93.1 miles (yes, I am beat 😅). From Monday through Saturday, we rode a total of 393 miles.

We couldn’t have done it without the awesome group of guys we biked with — strong, athletic, and always making sure we got where we needed to. We started with 8 riders and finished with 6. There were some really tough days, but they definitely built character 🤣.

✨ Lessons Learned on the Erie Canal Trail:
1. If research says the Erie Canal Trail is “flat”… this is a false statement.
2. Stay on the trail as much as possible. Even if another route looks shorter, the hills will humble you.
3. The trail is confusing in spots and not always clearly marked — that part is true.
4. Pretty pedals may look nice, but they are dangerous to the legs (ouch).

🚴‍♀️ Adventure Update 🚴‍♀️

I haven’t posted the last few days because let me tell you—this trip isn’t for the faint of heart!

On our very first evening after getting off the train, as we biked toward the hotel, my front bag strap got caught in my wheel. The bike stopped suddenly and I went flying over the handlebars. 😳 Not exactly the welcome I was hoping for!

We’ve been biking with a group of guys from New Jersey, and their activity level is definitely a notch above ours. Here’s how the week has looked so far:

📍 Monday – 73 miles. By the time we finally rolled into the campground, we were completely exhausted.
📍 Tuesday – 63 miles. We didn’t arrive until late at night, pedaling through dark woods to get to camp.
📍 Wednesday – 45 miles. The hills were brutal, so we gave ourselves a break and stayed in a motel.
📍 Today – 44 miles. Thankfully, the terrain was much kinder, and our legs appreciated it!

This adventure has been full of challenges, but also incredible memories. Every mile teaches us something new about endurance, grit, and gratitude. 💪✨

🚴‍♀️📦 Packing for bikepacking is no joke!

I’ve packed and repacked at least 5 times this week before leaving for this trip… and yes, I’ve even changed bags 4 times. 🤦‍♀️

When you’re bikepacking, you carry EVERYTHING with you on the bicycle, so it really makes you decide what’s truly important and forces you to minimize as much as possible.

🌟 Give Yourself Grace in Exercise 🌟

You don’t have to strive for perfection every time you move your body. What matters most is showing up for yourself.

👉 If you need to make modifications, please do.
👉 If you need to slow down or take breaks, that’s okay.
👉 If today looks different than yesterday, that’s still progress.

Remember: it’s always better to adjust your movements than to give up on exercising altogether. Consistency—done with compassion for yourself—will carry you further than perfection ever could. 💪💖

🌪️ Storms of Health Journey 🌪️

When we work on our health, it can often feel like we’re pedaling straight into a storm. Barriers come at us from every direction — stress, fatigue, time, and setbacks.

This weekend, after finishing a long shift, I set out for a bike ride to train for an upcoming trip. The first 11 miles up the rail trail felt great. Then, I felt a drop of rain. At first, I thought it was just water from the trees. But then came the thunder, the flash of lightning, and the heavy downpour.

I turned back toward my car, determined to push through. The rain would slow, even stop at times, but the storm seemed to follow me for the entire 11 miles back. Just when I thought I was out of it, I realized I still had to keep going. The only way forward was to keep pedaling, steady and strong.

That ride reminded me of how our health journey works. We face storms — sometimes again and again — before reaching our goals. But if we stop in the middle, we’ll never get there. To succeed, we must keep pushing, even when the rain feels endless.

💡 The lesson?
Your storms don’t define you. Your strength, persistence, and steady forward motion do.

Keep pedaling. Keep moving forward. The clear skies will come. ☀️

There are so many reasons people tell themselves they “can’t” exercise — but even with significant physical limitations, you can find a form of movement that works for you.

💪 No matter your age, ability, or fitness level — every little bit counts.

Here are a few common excuses we hear … and why they don’t have to hold you back:



🛑 “I’m too tired.”
✅ Exercise actually gives you more energy! Start with just 5–10 minutes of gentle movement, and you’ll feel more alert and refreshed.

🛑 “I don’t have time.”
✅ We all have the same 24 hours — even 10 minutes is better than none. Try a short walk on your lunch break, squats while brushing your teeth, or stretching before bed.

🛑 “It hurts.”

Today after work I was fortunate to get to enjoy a spur of the moment trail ride wide my husband. We were able to go almost to the end before it started to storm so we turned around to try to beat the storm back! ☺️. That thunder and lightning was called motivation to pedal faster!!! In all we were able to go 22 miles.
