12 hours without power and counting…
So we’ve officially moved into the garage.

Camp stove breakfast.
Space heater humming.
Car entombed in snow.
Toddler dressed for the Arctic.

Basically camping. Just… at the Jersey Shore in the dead of winter. ❄️🔥🤷‍♀️⛄️

10/10 adventure. Would prefer electricity. 😂

Huge thank you to the snow removal crews, linemen, first responders, and all the essential workers out there keeping things moving while the rest of us hunker down. We appreciate you more than you know. 🤍

We’re officially snowed in ❄️
Southern Ocean Animal Hospital is closed today due to the storm.

Please stay safe out there — and a few quick pet reminders while we’re all digging out:

• Keep dogs leashed (snow drifts can hide hazards).
• Wipe paws after walks to remove salt and ice melt.
• Make sure outdoor pets have proper shelter and fresh, unfrozen water.
• If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them. 🐾

We’ll see everyone tomorrow!

✨ Meet Wendy! ✨

We are so excited to officially welcome Wendy to the front desk at Southern Ocean Animal Hospital — and trust us, this one is special.

Wendy has always felt a natural connection to animals and knew that working around them wasn’t just a job, it was something she was meant to do. She loves being part of helping pets live their healthiest lives. She brings 20 years of experience in a medical office setting — including 10 years as a receptionist and 10 years as an office manager — so she understands exactly what it takes to keep a busy practice running smoothly and professionally. ❤️🐾

Her life outside of SOAH is just as full of animals as ours. At home, Wendy has four dogs — Parker, Millie, Quinn, and Buzz (three GSPs and a Lab!), plus two cats and nine chickens, and some bunnies. She and her family are actively involved in dog sports including conformation, Fast CAT, and rally, and in the summer you’ll likely find them out on the boat enjoying the shore life we all love.

And here’s a fun bonus: Wendy is also a local photographer for both people and pets — so yes, we are already excited about the creative energy she’s bringing with her! 📸

One of the things Wendy loves most about animals is the reminder they give us to live in the present. No grudges. No worrying about what’s next. Just right now.

We are actively hiring experienced Veterinary Assistants and Kennel Assistants for part-time and full-time positions within our growing organization. Some team members may work at one or more of our locations, depending on experience, availability, and role fit.

Experience is required.
These positions are hands-on and fast-paced and require comfort working directly with animals, clients, and a team that holds high standards of care.

Here’s Jess, a veterinary technician with 30 years of experience, performing laser therapy on sweet senior Italian Greyhound Zeta 🐾💕
