American Lab Rescue

American Lab Rescue We are a 501c3 dog sanctuary outside of Tucson AZ. Since 05 we have provided a safe place for dogs .

We had just finished building our house in the summer of 2005 when a couple of boys we knew went to a horse action outside of Phoenix. As they were driving on the frontage road to head home the truck in front of them slowed down and tossed something out of the window. At first they "thought it was a bag of trash but then it stood up and wagged it's tail." They picked up this little 7-8 week old Black Lab/Border Collie mix. They brought him back to Tucson and gave him to us saying "you need a dog." The boys were cowboys and had named him Winder because he flew out the window and the name stuck. We had been thinking about getting a dog but hadn't started looking yet. We lived just outside of Tucson down in a wash with a lot of coyotes and were a little afraid he would be to small to stand up to them. He had a little cubby hole he slept in and every morning he would pull the comforter he slept on out of the cubby hole so he got the nick name Windermonster. Little did we know he would grow into it he now stands as high as a large Lab and weighs in at around 115-120lbs. He is now 11yrs old as of Nov 2016 and we hope to have him around another 5yrs or more. You see in the pic he is showing a little age with the white in the ears, on the muzzle, and around the eyes also the back of his front legs are all white but he is all love. Little did we know that 11yrs later we would be looking back at taking in 40-50 dogs some rescues some fosters for other rescue groups. We thank Rica with Smiling Dog Rescues in Tucson for all the help she has provided over the years as well as Sue Bea down in Patagonia for her help. We started with Lab and Lab mixes but as time went by we seen so many dogs abandoned and just could not turn our backs on them so we finally decided to become a 501c3 and officially rescue all breeds. We have also started checking dogs to see if they have the aptitude to be good therapy dogs so that we might not only help dogs but maybe some of those out there who need a special companion to make their life better. We moved farther out of Tucson in 2010 but now we have out grown our location and are going to have to move to a bigger piece of land. We are hoping to get maybe 10 acres +/- so the dogs can have plenty of room to play. Right now we take them for walks in the dessert where they can chase rabbits and really stretch their legs. Of course ol Winder doesn't run much any more but the walks keep his hips from stiffening up. If things work out we hope to be able to care for up to 100-125 dogs once we get moved.

My last post was a little long but I forgot to say that if someone does decided to become a partner in the rescue that I'm probably only going to be able to keep doing this another 5yrs if that. At that time I would never expect anyone to do anything they don't want to do so it would be up to the partner as to whether they wanted to keep the rescue going or use the property for something else or liquidate the total assets of the rescue. If that is what they choose to do they would be looking at a 500% return +/- on their money.

I have to apologize again I just don't have time to improve my skills on social media as taking care of 100+ dogs and trying to provide 100lbs of food a day to feed them is taking everything I have. Sadly I have slowly been losing the fight these last two years and unless a miracle happens I am going to have to shut down what has become more of a sanctuary than a rescue. For 6 months I've been trying to find someone to become a partner in the rescue. Since we are a 501c3 they could donate $50,000 and become a 50% partner. Right now the rescue has about $175,000 in total assets and if someone would partner with us it would free up a lot of my time which I could use to improve the property which if it was fixed up would be worth $200,000 by itself. Besides the property we have a $50,000 tiny house, a$20,000 trailer that can move the tiny house, as well as the truck and other assets. Since we can't find any one that wants to do more than just talk about helping the dogs we're probably going to have to shut down and more than likely the majority of the dogs will have to be put down.

We recently found out that there is a rescue in CT that has the same name and so we are going to have to rebrand our rescue or sadly we may have to shut down because we just can't keep up with the financial demand. If somehow 1000 people could give $5 it would really help stabilize the rescue. Hope everyone is safe and doing well. Lab Rescue

Sorry I'm new at this and hopefully will get better with time. This is my latest video it's of Queeny and her pups. They are about due for their first shots but as I mentioned in the video the truck went down for 2 weeks and we're playing catch-up don't have the money right now. Hope to have it in a week or so. We know times are tough right now but even $5 would help believe it or not. You can donate using our phone number, 520-591-5769, with PayPal or Zelle. With Zelle you'll probably need either the rescue's name, American Lab Rescue AZ or my name, August. Believe it or not $5 would be greatly appreciated. Everyone take care out there this world is getting crazier by the day.

We want to thank everyone for their likes. We have a question about 2 months ago we started a fundraising push with a video on TikTok, Facebook, and our website. What seems really strange we have not received a single donation. We had a person that knows IT helping to get the fundraiser going and just as we were ready to launch it this person all of a sudden pulled out and we are wondering if this person somehow did something that is routing donations meant for our rescue to them. If any of you have donated please let us know so we can look into this possibility.

Again it's been a while since our last post caring for 100+ dogs requires quite a bit of time and being senior citizens we're not real active on social media. Sadly this has become a country full of people and companies that will gladly give millions of dollars to career criminal drug addicts, IE George Floyd, and non-profits that are set up to enrich a couple of people, IE BLM, but when it comes to helping honest people that providing a service that benefits the community by helping abused and abandoned animals they don't seem to have any desire to help.

Our fundraiser started off with a bang but seems to have stalled out. Like most of you out there $50,000 sounds like a lot of money and it is to us. That along with our regular donations would carry us for a good 5yrs and probably more. So if 2 or 3 thousand people would give just $10 it would help secure a home for the 100+ dogs at our rescue. We are a 'certified charity' with PayPal so there is no fee when giving thru them. GoFundMe charges 2.2% and takes about a month to get to the dogs were PayPal is 15-30 mins. Or if you are set up with Zelle at your bank you can use that option as well. Our phone number is 520-591-5769 and our email is americanlabrescueaz@gmail.com your $10 can make a world of difference for these abandoned dogs.

It seems this country has become a country of talkers w/very few doers. Everyone talks about helping abandoned animals if there are any doers this is an opportunity to man-up or woman-up.

Unfortunately due to the poor economy we've almost doubled the number of dogs these last 2yrs and like everything else dog food is going up like a rocket. We were very close to having to shut down a couple of months ago. We're still here but we're counting on the success of this fundraiser to get us a little more stable.
