Turning off the noise can look like…
•staying off social media
•muting/blocking/hiding accounts/posts/stories taking about nutrition or food
•not clicking on food/nutrition related headlines
•walking away from conversations with friends/families/coworkers about eating/food/nutrition/diet

Listening to your body can take years of practice but starts with…
•not being distracted while eating- no phone, no tv, no book
•not racing through a meal
•noticing what hungry feels like
•noticing what full feels like

Eventually you can get to…
•knowing what foods feel good in your body
•knowing what foods make your body feel sluggish and off
•knowing the ways your body tells you what you need

Wants goals that you can achieve? Make them specific!

🍊 Don’t just say you want to eat more veggies. Say you want to eat veggie with at least 2 meals at least 4 times a week.

🍎Don’t just say you want to spend less time on your phone. Say you want to limit time scrolling on your phone to 45 minutes a day.

🍊Don’t just say you want to get outside more. Say you want to get outside for at least 15 minutes at least 5 days a week.

🍎 Don’t just say you want to exercise more. Say you want to spend at 30 minutes a day 4 times a week intentionally moving your body.

We spent the last week at the beach and in Disneyland. The last thing I wanted to deal with was hangry kids, and let’s face it, a hangry me. This is how we avoided it.

🍊Meal times were kept as close to normal as possible. This can be trickier on driving days. Especially when mom hates stopping.

🍊Snacks should be low effort and easy to grab. This may look like a big bag of all the snacks where the passenger can reach it in the car or each kid getting their own bag of snacks in their seat. Snacks also get unloaded with the rest of the luggage so the hotel room has plenty of snacks. This also meant a dedicated backpack of snacks into Disneyland.

🍊We had some typical snacky foods, but we also had apples, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Kodiak Cakes protein balls, beefy jerky, and protein bars.

🍊I know I don’t want to wait for breakfast, so I packed breakfast. The day before we left I made a million egg and cheese burritos to be used for breakfast. I also had a bag of bagels and tub of cream cheese. We went to a familiar beach so we knew where lunch and dinner were going to be. I looked in the Disneyland app to know which spots had a meal we would all enjoy.

🍊I knew there would be lots of sugary treats available to us. I did my best to pair these with a snack or meal time. I also knew that this one week would not make or break us. So if we have a dole whip not paired with a meal or snack, I didn’t fret. We just enjoyed it.
