It’s okay to let them figure out how many cookies hurt their tummy.
It’s okay to let them eat a regular cookie.
It’s okay to let them eat a bite (or more) of just sugar.

The more we restrict, the more we want it. Let all foods be a regular part of our eating and watch the urge to overdo it decrease. This applies to both kids and adults.

I’ve really had it with the fear mongering and food bashing.

First of all, healthy is a relative term. It’s the dose that makes the poison-broccoli has a lot of great things, but if all you ate was broccoli your body would not be happy. Same for literally every food.

Secondly, taste matters. I’d much rather you eat a salad with a lot of ranch dressing than no salad at all. And if you put kale in my salad I will throw it at you.

Thirdly, we need to take into account what we can afford and what we have access to. If you truly care about what people are eating, put your energy into this.

Lastly, per my last post, eating is more important than what you eat.

If you want to start putting foods into your body that will make your body happier, reach out to a dietitian that will work with you.

It is no longer the most wonderful time of the year. It is now the time of year where you will be bombarded with ads trying to sell you BS about weight loss.

I’m here to remind you that just because society has made us feel like only small bodies are beautiful does not mean it is true. You deserve more than a life spent trying to change your size.

If you are approaching the new year with a desire to make a change in how you eat without a focus on weight, I’m here to help! I have 1:1 virtual appointments that are often covered by insurance. My scheduling link is in my bio.

No switch witch in this house!

I let my kids eat their Halloween candy after trick or treating with the only real limitation being bedtime. After that it goes in the candy box where it then becomes just another food in the pantry-sometimes served with snacks and sometimes served with meals.

It’s possible you may need to heal your own relationship with candy before you feel comfortable allowing this. It’s okay to fake it and pretend like it doesn’t make you insanely uncomfortable.

I would love to help you and your family on this journey- slide into my DMs or schedule an appointment at the link in my bio.

Meals should be eaten together with everyone being served more or less the same thing.

Children should be allowed to decide how much they eat.

Children are smart. They know if you really want them to eat. They know what they can get away with. ✨They know that they do not have to eat what you serve if you are always making them something else to eat.✨

Not every situation can be covered in a single post, but this covers a lot of what I see. I would love yo chat with you about your specific child. Slide into my DMs or schedule an insurance covered appointment at the link in my bio.
