Grief Hurts

Hello! My name is Jennica Klemann. My first significant loss was my grandfather’s death in 1997. It was an extremely emotional and devastating time, and not something I could just “get over”. His loss was life-changing for me and laid a foundation that would eventually lead me to choosing grief work.

I became a professionally licensed Massage Therapist in 1998, and in 2004 I introduced a grief-specific massage treatment to my clients who had lost their spouses, parents, children, and pets. It wasn’t something that was being addressed at the time and it felt like an important & meaningful direction toward educating clients about the mind-body disturbance of holding onto their grief. I could identify with the emotional and physical pain because I was experiencing it myself.

In 2014 I was introduced to the Grief Recovery Method. I went through the 8-week group workshop, and it was THEN that I was finally able to let go of the pain associated with my grandfather’s loss. I had been living with a broken heart for over seventeen years!! My myth was that “time heals”. I believed that if my heart still ached for him, then I was keeping his memory alive with me. This wasn’t true! Love does not equal pain, and you can still love and miss someone without the attachment of deep emotional pain.

The transformation that GRM gave me was such a gift. Now, I want to share that gift with others because I know what a relief it is to move forward and past the pain. Now, I am able to use the tools that I have gained from the program to process recent deaths and the overwhelming stress caused by world conditions.
