‼️TOMORROW 02/27‼️ students, staff, and faculty rally in support of DEI programs and initiatives across campus.
DEI programs help create a fair and inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff from historically marginalized backgrounds. Without these programs, underrepresented groups face barriers to access, retention, and success.

Tomorrow we come together to uphold our universities commitments to its community in spite of federal orders to dissolve DEI programs.

The image is a digital flyer with a teal, orange, and white color scheme, advertising a rally. At the top, a teal banner contains the text “STUDENT STAFF AND FACULTY JOBS ARE ON THE LINE.” Below, a dark teal section features large, bold text “RALLY FOR DEI” in cream. Further down, on a cream background, the text reads “U OF A DOES NOT COMPLY, WE ARE KEEPING DEI” with two illustrated clenched fists on either side. An orange section lists the rally details: “Main Campus - Alumni Plaza, 02/27 - 12 pm.”
The bottom of the image includes another teal section divided into two parts: the left features a photo of a group holding protest signs, one reading “ERASING D.E.I. ERASING STUDENTS.” The right side states, “WHAT IS OUR FIGHT?” with bullet points: “Retaining student, Staff, and Faculty jobs” and “Funding for Diversity initiatives.” At the very bottom, cream text on a dark teal background lists Instagram handles for more information.

Join us this Sunday for an evening of documentary, desserts, and discussion and help student organizers attend the 2024 Socialism Conference! The screening will be in an outdoor wheelchair-accessible yard, on a projected screen with captions. The entrance to the space has a slight slope. Non-alcoholic drinks are available. Masks are encouraged.

Pinkwashing Exposed is an hour-long documentary on anti-pinkwashing and Palestine solidarity activism in Seattle edited by Amy Mahardy and directed by Dean Spade.
Film Synopsis: In 2012, activists in the Pacific Northwestern region of the US responded to an Israeli Consulate-funded pinkwashing tour featuring Israeli gay and le***an activists that was coming to the region. Local q***r Palestine solidarity activists exposed the “Rainbow Generations” tour as pro-Israel propaganda and got some of the events, including the tour’s centerpiece event hosted by the City of Seattle’s LGBT Commission, cancelled. A significant backlash ensued involving the Seattle City Council and Seattle’s leading LGBT and HIV organizations. Through the inspiring story of these activists’ victory, “Pinkwashing Exposed” explores how pinkwashing works and what local activists are doing to fight back.

Image description: graphic titled “Revolutionary Movie Night + Bake Sale” in bold dark red text on a tan background. Black and white illustrations of birds on mesquite branches frame the text. At the top, it says, “Raise funds for Tucson student organizers to attend a socialism conference in Chicago!” with a QR code link to donate. Underneath the title, it says, “Slow Body Beer, 831 East 17th Street, Sunday, August 11, 6pm.” Curved text in the bottom left reads “All ages welcome!” At the bottom right, it says, “Suggested donation $10-20. Film: ‘Pinkwashing Exposed’.

Millions of people in the US and around the world have been protesting relentlessly to end the genocidal bombardment and ongoing occupation of Palestine.

Polls show that the majority of Americans support a ceasefire, but the Biden Administration and Congress have ignored our demands and continue to enable Israel with $14 billion in taxpayer money.
If our votes and our calls won't be taken into account, then we are left no choice but to SHUT IT DOWN FOR PALESTINE.

Just last week, over 1500 showed up and walked out to condemn the University of Arizona's complicity in Israel's ethnic cleansing and genocidal brutality. We need to carry that power and momentum forward as we answer the call of the Palestinian people to shut it down again.

Join us on Friday to picket Universal Avionics/Elbit Systems.

Show out for ABOR Tomorrow, Thursday Nov. 16 - Our university administrators and regents only care about their bottom line and they are willing to sacrifice all of us to keep lining their pockets with blood money.

UA admin ‘lost’ $240 million, causing a financial crisis. Workers on the bottom refuse to pay for admin’s failures in cuts to our wages, salaries, departments and financial aid. We are coming to tell ABOR to “CHOP FROM THE TOP”.

Our central administrations are complicit in the genocide and illegal occupation of Palestine, supporting Israel and other settler colonial projects of mass murder and displacement (including themselves) through contracts with Raytheon and other arms manufacturers. Community members are here to say CUT THE CONTRACTS and advocate for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanction campaigns.

We are delivering a petition (you can still sign via linktree in bio!) to ban fascist group TurningPoint USA from our campuses. Their members violently attacked q***r faculty at ASU, who received nothing more than empty words and lack of action from those in power.

We continue our fight for thriving wages and better healthcare for contingent faculty, staff, and students, and a student fee waiver option for student workers.

We demand political and academic freedom and are abhorred at the administrative retaliation and institutionally-sanctioned doxxing faced by faculty and student organizations for educating on topics like LGBTQ+ healthcare and Palestine.

Our struggles as campus workers are inextricably linked to the struggles of all people who are fighting for survival and collective well-being within these conditions of violence and precarity. We bring this fight to ABOR alongside . The central administrations who exploit campus workers and actively invest and profit from inflicting systemic violence on marginalized communities here and around the world cannot hide from our collective power.

TUCSON, shut it down for Palestine this Friday Nov 17!!

Our safety lies in our numbers, so we encourage you to reach out to as many friends, family, and comrades to join us! Only through collective action can we take power away from the warmongers and put it in the hands of the majority of us who truly want peace.

THE PEOPLE DEMAND:

🇵🇸 Money for people’s needs, not the war machine!

Yesterday’s global movement was a collective memory and reminder that we will all be free from our struggles, and liberated through the power and love of community organizing and mobilizing. With the deep grief, there was still love and power that was felt through the crowd.

university and the state of Arizona is economically involved in occupation, apartheid, and genocide happening in Palestine, and we must all continue fighting and applying pressure to end the complicity and deadly alignment with “Israel”.

We support Palestine’s struggle for liberation.

We know a free Palestine, completely free from violence and occupation is possible.

We believe in being unafraid and organized in the face of all injustice.

We believe in the radical believe that no one is free until we are all free.

🚨 Extra! Extra! Read all About it!

police officer, Colin Keating, in charge of case that lead to Dr. Meixner shooting was promoted, and given $13K+!

For nearly a year, Keating alongside many administrators dismissed and disregarded the multiple reports of harassment and violence experienced by students at the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences. There was no sense of urgency or care for the concerns and threats that students and staff were facing, and this lead to the murder of Dr. Meixner on October 5, 2022.

Now a year later, the same month of when the murder occurred, Keating was promoted and given a raise by institution. This directly tells us that the university of Arizona does not care to create a safe campus for UA students, staff, faculty and Tucson community and would instead invest financially into policing and police officers who are directly responsible for the violence that ensues on campus.

We’ve been saying this for SOOOO long; The police does not care about you or your safety. The institution and administrators do not care about you or your safety. Institutions of policing and white supremacy will continue to serve and preserve themselves, the same ways that the institution has been investing financial power into Israel and the genocide of Palestinian people.

Question we have for everyone;
- What does campus safety and community safety look like actualized without the need and dependence on police systems and carceral state?

Let this moment of history radicalize in you in deeply looking at the institution you’re attending and where it truly continues to align its values (hint; it’s not people and community centered).

🚨TUCSON & UA COMMUNITY:

No business as usual until Palestine is FREE! 🇵🇸

We’re following  movement and others in calling for a community demonstration and campus-wide walk out to expose, educate and protest the deep ties the University has to the military-industrial complex, and the University leadership’s support for genocide.

UA community: walk out, call out sick! Professors, students, workers, parents, people in healthcare, in libraries, consider how you are connected to this struggle. WALK OUT for Palestine. Talk to your professors, peers, and colleagues, and see if they will stand up against genocide with you! Professors, talk to your students and encourage them to join the walkout! Talk to your coworkers and make a plan.

Broader Tucson community: support the University of Arizona community and tell the UA leadership that we want quality education and quality jobs, but we don’t want a war economy in this city! We don’t want our children trained to go work for weapons manufacturers that profit off of mass destruction and death; that dump toxic waste and poison in our Mexican and Mexican American community in South Tucson.

If UA’s values are with the Israeli state and not the Palestinian people, as President Robbins recently asserted, then UA’s leadership stands for and is complicit in the occupation, apartheid, and genocide.

We won’t forgive and we won’t forget!

“We must not wait for history to pass us by. Everyone- regardless of identity or sector- must heed the calls coming from the Palestinian streets and take action against this genocide. Fear will not protect us and silence will not absolve us.”- Palestinian poet and writer Mohammed el-Kurd
