Speech Center of Southern Arizona Speech Center is a pediatric Speech Therapy Clinic. We provide family centered clinical evaluations and therapy for children under age 18. Who are we?

What is a Speech-language pathologist? A speech-language pathologist holds either a masters or a doctoral degree in speech, a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a state license. Our commitment is to identify, evaluate and provide treatment for individuals of all ages with communication disorders. We counsel individuals, their families and caregivers in regard to the communication problem and its management. Through contact with the individual's referring physician, as well as other specialists, we coordinate a program that best suits the individual's needs. Facilitating the development and maintenance of human communication is the goal of speech-language-pathologists. We are a privately owned speech pathology practice established in 1993 by Sherril Howard, MS, CCC-SLP and Diane Hansen, MA, CCC-SLP. Since then, we have built a reliable and well regarded practice in the Tucson community. We are known for providing excellent, professional and result-producing therapy. The speech-language pathologists on our staff are highly qualified in the assessment and treatment of speech, voice, language, swallowing, and cognitive problems. Our talented SLPs enjoy working with children of all age groups-- from infants to 18 years old. Our Philosophy

Every child is fundamentally unique. By using what we learn about who that child is, how they learn, and what they love, we can help accomplish their communication goals while modeling techniques for parents and caregivers to continue using at home. Children expand their imaginative, social, language, and intellectual skills through play, exploration, nature experiences, and story-telling. By working with parents along with the child, our therapists are able to give families tools to increase communication outside of the office. This accelerates the process of overcoming speech difficulties while building parent knowledge of how they can impact their child's communication and development.
