🥧 Pie Season at the Tucson Site! 🥧
Our Tucson site held its annual November Pie-Making Contest, featuring delicious entries from the ETS program, Freedom Friday seniors, and staff.

The judges had the tough (but tasty!) job of sampling each creation — and let’s just say, everyone left happy with the results! 🥧👏

A big thank you to all our talented bakers for bringing their creativity (and sweet treats) to the table!

With it being the fall/halloween season 🎃🍂Blind equality achievement month and White cane awareness day/ blind American equality day 🦯all happening the past few weeks as well as it being beautiful weather in Arizona we have been inundated with events and outings and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Wednesday, October 15th Tucson ETS students and staff.
On white cane awareness day it is important to get out there and be present in the community traveling with the white cane. It allows the community to see what a powerful tool it can be. In Tucson we did this by traveling on streetcar, walking on the University of Arizona campus, and having a picnic and philosophy session on the University of Arizona mall. During the event the students and staff were asked what the cane means to them.

We warmly invite you to a community gathering focused on training opportunities for children, working-age adults, and seniors who are blind or experiencing vision loss. While our organization offers in-person residential programs, we recognize that each community in Northern Arizona—including small towns and tribal nations—has unique needs. That’s why we want to learn directly from you how to shape and bring these services closer to home.

What We’ll Do Together: EXCHANGE KNOWLEDGE: Share information on essential nonvisual skills, tools and opportunities, and support services for all ages.

LISTEN TO YOUR PERSPECTIVES: Hear your experiences, questions, and insights to understand what matters most to you, your family, and your neighbors.

CO-CREATE SOLUTIONS: Discuss ways to ensure our programs respect local cultures, address challenges faced in your community, and empower individuals with vision loss to thrive.

Who Should Attend? Community members living with vision loss. Families, friends, and interested community members. Educators, healthcare professionals, & service providers. Tribal leaders and community advocates. Anyone interested in fostering a supportive environment for those with low vision.

Why Your Voice Matters: BY WORKING TOGETHER, we can create services that reflect our shared values and community traditions. Your feedback will guide us in tailoring effective, culturally appropriate programs so that all individuals have access to the resources, skills, and confidence they deserve—right here in Northern Arizona.
