đź’› Triumph Tuesday đź’›

Today we celebrate Chloe. At her graduation from SAAVI Services for the Blind, tears filled her eyes — not from sadness, but from pride, strength, and joy. Ok maybe also a little bit of sadness and a little bit of fear of what comes next but all of us know that Chloe is leaving with more skills, more friends, and a bright future.

Chloe’s journey has been full of courage, determination, and heart. She has faced challenges and turned them into stepping stones towards independence and new beginnings. Watching her cross this milestone was a reminder that perseverance and a support system really do light the way. ✨

Chloe, your triumph is an inspiration. We’re so proud of you, and we can’t wait to see where your next chapter takes you. 🌟

We are out doing outreach in our near by community. Catalina magnet is a high school in the neighborhood of our tucson location. We often make it a landmark when our students are out on their orientation and mobility lessons and one of the many goals of that class is to be able to make it around the street parameter of the school. Today we have a table at Catalina’s TUSD transition fair. We appreciate the community and the opportunity to be able to have a table at the fair.

✨ Triumph Tuesday Spotlight ✨Congratulate Albert! He successfully completed his final project for Home Management class here at SAAVI Services for the Blind, cooking a full Mexican meal using nonvisual skills. From planning the menu to safely preparing and serving the food, Albert showed incredible confidence, independence, and determination. His success is a powerful reminder that with the right training and support, possibilities are endless. 💪Way to go, Albert—we are so proud of you! 🎉👏 : sweeping view of the east kitchen going from north to south with a view of people eating, volunteers helping with the serving of the meal, staff and students in line to be served food and the chef himself at the stove serving and describing the meal. ✨ Triumph Tuesday Spotlight! ✨

This week we’re celebrating student, Sam, who just put the finishing touches on his handmade cutting board in woodshop/home maintenance class! 🪵🔨 From careful measuring, cutting, and sanding every edge smooth. Sam showed patience, skill, and creativity every step of the way.

👏 We’re so proud of his craftsmanship and determination—his cutting board isn’t just functional, it’s a work of art. Way to go, Sam!

Today we’re celebrating student, Rachel, who successfully prepared a full intermediate-level meal for 8 people! 👏

Her menu highlight? Homemade enchiladas — layered with flavor, beautifully rolled, and baked to perfection. 🫔✨ Rachel balanced timing, flavor, and presentation while serving a full table, and every plate came out looking (and tasting!) amazing.

Way to go, Rachel — what a delicious accomplishment and a huge step in your training journey.🔥

Today is “National senior citizens day” and we have had some very active seniors this year with the start of the silver canes program, freedom Fridays, and even some getting the chance to join us at the National and state NFB conventions. Tomorrow we plan on having a large group of our saavi services for the blind senior participants at the senior seminar during the NFB state convention in Phoenix. When at the convention they will get the opportunity to go on a cane walk, make tactile measuring cups, and talk with a representative of the states independent living older blind program. We love our seniors and all they are accomplishing. Happy National senior citizens day!
