A New Chapter: Introducing the Service Resiliency Unit (SRU) at Sierra Tucson
,
We’re proud to announce the evolution of our commitment to Veterans and first responders with the launch of the Service Resiliency Unit (SRU) at Sierra Tucson, formerly known as the Red, White, and Blue program.

In partnership with Acadia Healthcare’s Service Resiliency Unit team, this next chapter reflects a deepened, intentional focus on trauma-informed care tailored to the unique experiences of those who have served.

Grounded in our values of Service, strengthened through Resiliency, and united as one cohesive Unit, the SRU represents both who we serve and how we serve them.

Life is like a box of chocolates… you never know who’s joining the herd! 🍫

We are thrilled to introduce the two newest members of our Sierra Tucson equine family. After a campus-wide vote from our residents and staff, the results are in!

Please give a warm welcome to: 🏃‍♂️ Forrest 🎀 Jennay

Named after the iconic duo, these two are already bringing so much joy and "purpose" to our stables. Whether they’re grazing or greeting our residents, they reminds us that sometimes, you just have to keep moving forward.

Can a horse see what you’re hiding? 🐴

At Sierra Tucson, we’ve found that horses are "great teachers of authenticity." Because they are prey animals, they have an innate "sixth sense" for human emotion. They don’t listen to what you say—they respond to your energy, your body language, and even your heart rate.

In our ebook, we explore how Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) helps residents break through barriers that traditional talk therapy might miss. From veterans recovering from PTSD to individuals navigating addiction, the herd offers a mirror to our souls and a path to healing.

The new year is a chance to recommit to your recovery journey — not to start over or chase a “new year, new me” ideal. Recovery is about steady progress, self-compassion, and building a strong foundation of support. Some days will feel easier than others, and that’s okay — every small step counts.

This year, focus on realistic goals, emotional wellness, and hope for the journey ahead. Share this post to encourage others to start the new year with intention and support in their recovery.

There is a unique kind of healing that happens when the desert rain meets the Santa Catalina Mountains. While winter elsewhere might feel gray, here, the rain brings a sense of renewal, grounding, and quiet reflection.

The sound of raindrops on the cactus, the mist rolling over the peaks, and the crisp, clean air—it’s nature’s way of reminding us that it’s okay to slow down, turn inward, and breathe.

In the journey of recovery, the "rainy days" are often where the most growth happens. Today, we’re embracing the cozy corners, the warm tea, and the breakthrough moments that happen when the world goes quiet.
Why we love winter rain at ST:
The Scent: Nothing beats the fragrance of wet creosote and earth.
The Pace: A natural invitation to practice mindfulness and presence.

The Clarity: The desert looks more vibrant than ever after a soak.

How are you practicing self-care on this rainy day? Let us know in the comments. 👇
