🩺 Gynecological Cancer: Separating Myths from Facts

As pelvic health specialists, we believe knowledge empowers better health decisions. Let's address some common misconceptions about gynecological cancers:

MYTH vs. FACT

MYTH: "Only older women get gynecological cancers"
FACT: While risk increases with age, cancers like cervical cancer often affect women in their 30s and 40s. HPV-related cancers can occur at younger ages.

MYTH: "If I have no symptoms, I don't need screening"
FACT: Many gynecological cancers are "silent" in early stages. Regular screenings like Pap smears and pelvic exams can catch changes before symptoms appear.

MYTH: "Family history means I'll definitely get cancer"
FACT: While genetics play a role (especially in ovarian and breast cancers), most cases occur in women with no family history. Genetic counseling can help assess your personal risk.

MYTH: "Pelvic pain is just normal aging"
FACT: Persistent pelvic pain, bloating, or changes in bowel/bladder habits should be evaluated. Early detection saves lives.

MYTH: "You can't do anything to prevent cervical cancer except testing"
FACT: The HPV vaccine can prevent most cases of cervical cancer by protecting against the most common cancer-causing types of HPV.

How Pelvic Health PT Can Help
After gynecological cancer treatment, many women experience:
Pelvic floor dysfunction
Scar tissue restrictions
Sexual health concerns
Core weakness
Lymphedema

Our specialized care helps restore function, reduce pain, and improve quality of life throughout your healing journey.

Remember: Trust your body. Advocate for yourself. Seek answers when something feels "off."

🌍💙 Today is International Day of Charity — a reminder of the power of generosity, compassion, and community.

At Catalyst Physical Therapy, we see every day how a little support can make a huge difference in someone’s life. Whether it’s helping a mom feel like herself again after birth, or guiding someone out of pain so they can enjoy the things they love, we believe that caring for others creates a ripple effect that strengthens our whole community.

✨ Today, we invite you to:
Give a kind word or encouragement to someone who needs it.
Share your time or resources with a local cause close to your heart.

Remember that caring for yourself is also an act of charity — because when you feel strong and healthy, you’re better able to care for others.

Together, small acts of kindness add up to big change. 💫

🌍 World Sexual Health Day 2025 🌍

Today we join the global community in recognizing World Sexual Health Day. This year’s theme is:
✨ “Sexual Justice: What Can We Do?” ✨

Sexual health is more than the absence of disease—it’s about rights, dignity, equity, and access to care for all people. This includes:
✔ Protecting s*xual rights
✔ Supporting reproductive choice
✔ Affirming LGBTQ+
✔ Expanding access to accurate information

At Catalyst Physical Therapy, we believe that every person deserves to feel empowered, informed, and confident in their body. Through our pelvic health and whole-body physical therapy, we are proud to support s*xual wellness and help individuals overcome pain, dysfunction, and barriers that can hold them back from living fully. 💙

Together, we can advocate, educate, and take steps toward a future where s*xual justice is a reality for everyone.

I can finally say it… I’ve officially earned my Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy! 🎓✨

This degree represents so much more than academics—it’s years of persistence, resilience, and growth. Along the way, I’ve walked through marriage, welcomed 3 beautiful kids, and balanced the ups and downs of life, family, and work. There were many moments I wondered if it was possible, but here we are.

I’m deeply grateful to my family, friends, mentors, and patients who believed in me and cheered me on. ❤️

This isn’t the end of the journey—it’s the beginning of stepping into even more education, knowledge, and growth so I can keep showing up as the best version of myself for my patients, my family, and my community.
