We are humbled to share a beautiful letter we recently received from a hospice patient’s family. Words like these remind us why we do what we do each day—walking alongside families with compassion, dignity, and love.
✨ Here is the letter in full:
"Dear Dependable Health Services Hospice Team,
There are not enough words to fully express the gratitude our family feels for the incredible care, compassion, and support you showed our mom during her last few weeks. From the very first phone call with Laura, we felt an immediate sense of relief, knowing we were not alone. Every detail was taken care of, from ordering the hospital bed, table, and supplies, to ensuring that we had the resources and guidance we needed. You not only helped our mom transition with peace and dignity, but you also gave her family the comfort, understanding, and strength we so desperately needed.
Each of you touched our lives in such profound ways:
• Laura De La Torre – Your warmth, efficiency, and compassion during intake ensured that our mom was taken into Hospice immediately. You set the tone for everything that followed and gave us the gift of time when it mattered most.
• Heidi Smith – Your guidance throughout the hospice process, especially in those final days, helped us understand what to expect and how best to support our mom. You gave us peace when we were filled with fear, and you showed us how to help our mom pass with dignity.
• Sarah Munguia-Abriola – Your thoughtful explanations and support helped us navigate not only the immediate needs but also the donor process afterward. You gave us clarity when we felt overwhelmed, and your compassion carried us through.
• Elizabeth Henerfauth – Your ability to comfort us in our grief, even crying with us, was an act of pure humanity. You reminded us that it was okay to lean on someone in those moments, and we will never forget that kindness.
• Guadeloupe Hernandez – The way you cared for our mom with such gentleness and love was extraordinary. You treated her not as a patient, but as a person who deserved respect and tenderness in every moment.
And beyond those final moments, your support has continued. The way you handled everything after our mom’s passing including contacting the coroner, coordinating with the funeral home, and removing the equipment was done with respect and efficiency. You lifted burdens we didn’t even know we were carrying. And now, to know that grief counseling is just a phone call away gives us comfort during this new and difficult chapter.
You were more than caregivers; you became our guides, our support system, and our shoulders to cry on. You walked beside us through one of life’s hardest journeys, and for that, we will always carry you in our hearts.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for loving our mom and for supporting her and her family with such grace, compassion, and strength.
