❤️ Meet CHD Survivor Easton ❤️
Easton was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart defect at 22 weeks. His heart is very different than others because everything is backwards - what the left side of the heart is supposed to do, the right side does and vice versa. He had his first open-heart surgery at 13 days old and has needed 4 more open-heart surgeries over the past few years, spending lots of time in the ICU. He even had to relearn how to walk and talk after suffering a stroke.
Needless to say, Easton is one TOUGH kid and has shown so much resilience. After his latest procedure in November, he is feeling better and has more energy! He's received so much support and love from our family, friends and his teachers at his school. We don't sweat the small stuff in the Tuzzolino family and have a lot of empathy for families who go through these challenging experiences.
His family knows how important it is to keep his heart strong, so they get lots of exercise, eat healthy foods, and keeps a positve outlook on life through practicing gratitude.
"We've always told Easton that even though his heart is different, he's a strong and capable kid in everything he does. We're happy to share his story to serves as inspiration that we all can still do hard things and thrive in life. He's is our Hero!" - Brooke and Thomas Tuzzolino
