For some people, talk therapy alone isn’t enough to reprocess trauma or the beliefs you’ve built over time.
That’s why EMDR Intensives change the game. Here’s a simple breakdown of what it actually does in the brain:
When something overwhelming happens, your brain sometimes doesn’t file it away correctly. Instead of becoming a past memory, it gets “stuck” and stored with the same emotions, body sensations, and beliefs you had at the time.
That’s why a random trigger can suddenly make it feel like it’s happening all over again.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) uses bilateral stimulation (like guided eye movements or tapping) to activate your brain’s natural processing system. This is actually similar to what happens during REM sleep.
This helps your brain reprocess the memory so it can finally be stored as something that happened THEN, not something that’s happening NOW.
EMDR can also address beliefs you’ve built about others, the world, or yourself.
In a traditional 50-minute session, we usually have to stop right as your brain starts to do the deeper work.
In an intensive (3-5 hours), we can:
🌿Stay with a memory long enough for resolution
🌿Move through multiple layers in one day
🌿Create momentum instead of restarting by during every therapy session.
This isn’t meant to be easy. But - there will be lots of time to prepare and make sure your EMDR therapist feels aligned with you.
