This outing was one for the books ♻️✨

Residents from Sonrisa Senior Living recently had the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the Roseville waste management facility for an educational tour focused on sustainability and community impact.

They learned how everyday materials are sorted, recycled, and processed, gaining a new appreciation for the systems that help keep our cities clean and environmentally responsible.

Throughout the visit, residents asked thoughtful questions, shared plenty of laughs, and engaged deeply with the team on site. It was a meaningful experience that blended learning, connection, and real-world discovery.

It’s National Volunteer Week, and we’re overflowing with gratitude for the incredible volunteers who make a difference in our communities every single day!

Today, we’re shining a special spotlight on Glen, Doris, their two sons, and their friend Howard—true pillars of The Watermark at Southpark Meadows. Since 2019, this wonderful family has faithfully visited each week, leading Bible study and filling our halls with the joy of music.

What started as a family sharing their love of music at a Christmas program quickly blossomed into a cherished tradition. After connecting with a resident who once led Bible study, they stepped up to continue the legacy—bringing spiritual guidance, heartfelt hymns, and so much warmth to our residents.

Every Monday, you’ll find them leading Bible study and hymns in Assisted Living, then sharing music in Memory Care. Their dedication is unwavering—they rarely miss a week, and their presence is a highlight for so many.

When asked what they love most about volunteering, they shared it’s the personal connections and the joy of seeing residents’ faces light up as everyone sings beloved hymns like “Amazing Grace.” For Glen, these visits are more than volunteering—they’re the best part of his week.

To Glen, Doris, your family, and Howard: thank you for the joy, compassion, and connection you bring to The Watermark at Southpark Meadows. And to all our volunteers nationwide, your kindness truly changes lives. 💙

We are proud to see our community featured in recent media coverage highlighting the meaningful work of our Tech Concierge, Adrian Amora. After a successful career in software engineering, Adrian chose a more personal path, helping older adults navigate today’s digital world with confidence.

As Adrian shared, “There is a tendency for older people to internalize their technical struggles as a personal shortcoming. So often with tech, it’s not the person involved, but the equipment.”

From recovering treasured photos and reconnecting residents with loved ones, to guiding them through online banking and healthcare portals, his work is transforming daily life in powerful ways.

This story is a reminder that innovation in senior living is not just about new technology. It is about how we use it to support dignity, reduce isolation, and empower residents at every stage of life.

When asked what’s kept him here all this time, his answer was simple. The people.

From the residents he sees every day to the team he works alongside, it’s the connections that matter most. And the best part of his job?

“Seeing the smiles on residents’ faces and knowing I’ve helped someone.”
